Crash Team Racing

Crash Bandicoot is already a household name but his popularity is set to soar with the release of CRASH TEAM RACING. It’s a frantic free-for-all go-kart spectacular with a very addictive nature and what’s more it has all your favourite Crash cast characters as the contestants. (Try saying that when you’ve had a few…!) Games like this just need playing not justifying but for those who like to know what’s going on here’s the story so far. Freak of nature, Dr. Nitros Oxide has delusions about taking over the world. A childhood accident turned him into a speed freak and now he’s on the lookout for a world to conquer. He’s invented a thing called the Hyper Activator that will turn the planet into a speed zone but Dr. Neo Cortex has other ideas. Gathering friends and enemies together he’s trying to find the fastest driver, one worthy of taking on and beating the mad scientist in the final showdown and thus preventing him from activating the activator. Players can choose to control any one of 8 characters that include Crash, Coco, Pinstripe and Ripper Roo and hurl them around 20 themed circuits. These could be anything from the ice and snow bound tracks of Blizzard Bluff and Polar Pass to the subterranean perils of the Dragon Mines or Sewer Speedway. Whichever track you find yourself on you’ll have more than twisting circuits, jumps, ramps and obstacles to contend with. Each of the other drivers wants to win so badly they’ll try any dirty trick in the book to manage it. Fortunately the tracks are littered with Wumpa Fruit and bonus crates that contain weapons and power ups. These could be bombs, missiles, TNT crates, Nitro, poison, invincibility or turbo boosters all of which have some hilarious effects on the other contenders and you too if you happen to be in someone’s sights. Some weapons can be dropped onto the track for unwary drivers to crash into so you’ll need your wits about you. The karts are, however, pretty manoeuvrable and able to hop, skid and power slide aided by on-track go faster stripes and a good selection of race types such as adventure, time trial, battle and grand prix will get you used to handling them.
