Destrega

Around 1,000 years ago a race of people known as the Strega appeared in the small country of Zamu’el. They taught the population and endowed them with powers similar to their own but the local folk wanted more. In the war that followed many powerful artefacts were lost and the memories of wealth and powers faded into dreams. Recently, some of the artefacts have been rediscovered, their powers reawakened and the lust for power rekindled. Fearing that the surviving Strega would once again try to take that power away the Emperor sends out his fighters to hunt them down and destroy them once and for all. DESTREGA is a true 3D fighting game that contains all the great combos and moves of many of its predecessors but allows much more freedom of movement within the battle zones themselves. Combatants can hide behind objects, leap onto platforms and shower each other with short or long range attacks from every imaginable angle. Each controller button guides a particular move, jumping, punching, kicking etc but when players are not within physical range of each other these moves are converted into magical attacks. This makes it very simple to get instantly into the action as even random button bashing will produce spectacular results. Pros, on the other hand, will be able to tailor those moves into specific actions that have devastating effects on the opposition. Energy bolts in a range of colours and shapes twist and weave around the screen to be counterattacked or blocked with an equally destructive force. Camera viewpoints automatically adjust to encompass the entire battle area giving players an in-your-face view of the close combat or a wide perspective shot of the long-range conflict across each of the excellent arenas. There are 12 main characters in the game, each with their own range of moves, combos and magic and successfully completing the game allows access to secret characters from Dynasty Warriors. DESTREGA is very different to other fighting games while at the same time familiar enough to minimise the learning curve. It’s fast, fluid and frantic as well as loads of fun to play.
