The Reason For The PS2 Shortages
Beacuse of the complexity of the hi-tech Graphics
Synthesiser chips of the PS2, there's a shortage of these
chips as they can't make them fast enough. This has also
slowed down how many consoles Sony can make. One measure
that Sony has taken to deal with this is by opening up a
newer, faster and more efficient production plant in
Taiwan, but it didn't perform as well as expected. So an
older factory, which was to stop building PS2s with its
inefficient methods, was kept open to try and achieve the
required number of consoles. This means that there's
very likely two types of PS2s floating around Europe and
the US, with very slight differences inside. Still, it
shows that Sony Computers Entertainmant are doing
everything in their power to satisfy our gaming needs.
