Armored Core 2

Armored Core 2 has captured our attention for the first couple weeks before its release. This Mech action game has fulfilled all of our expectations so far. This game’s opening intro is probably one of the best if not the best for PS2. From Software, the creators of AC2, have made drastic graphic improvements since they had last presented the game. This game has really good multiplayer action like in modes such as Split Screen Vs where you can play against your friends with a split screen. This game also shows the PS2’s online capabilities by having a Linked VS mode so you can play against other friends on another PS2. In AC2 you are a member of a team known as “Raven”. As being a member of Raven you are entitled to fight in missions or represent yourself and your team in the arena. In the arena you battle mechs (a.k.a. ACs) from other teams to make your way down the AC ladder. After every completed mission you gain money to upgrade and customize your AC. You can also gain money by defeating ACs and making your way down the ladder in the arena mode. Once you have enough money you can shop for better weapons, armor, cores, and jets. The huge selection of weapons in this game contributes to the fun factor of AC2. There are probably over 100 weapons in total! As far as weapons go, you can carry a gun on one hand, a sword, shield or drill on another. The game's advanced difficulty takes a little getting used to, and might turn off a few of the more casual gamers. Despite the difficulty, though, there aren't too many things gamers can complain about with this superlative title.
