Tekken Tag Tournament

Tekken Tag Tournament, one of Namco's biggest PS2 moneymakers, was first released March 31 in Japan and has since fallen into a heated rivalry with Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore, Tecmo's similar PS2 fighter. Tekken's strong fan base extends beyond merely those guys who want to see naked chicks in DOA2, to those who have played and loved the older Tekken games, T3 in particular. The new US TTT had just received an AA makeover and now it's clear which game tops the fighting genre. The gameplay does not differ much from Tekken 3 or the arcade TTT, but it is a wonderful game nevertheless. Tekken's major highlights are the stunning backgrounds and the huge selection of playable characters that this game offers. The game has 36 playable characters with their own huge list of impressive moves and fighting styles. Then there is Lee Chaolin's fighting style. Lee will leave all audiences in awe with his fast Bruce Lee type fighting style. Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore, in comparison, only has 13 characters. A big boost for this game is all the fun secret modes that this game has to offer, such as "Tekken Bowl" mode, a bowling challenge. Extras like this really add to Tekken's replay value. The moves in this game are also very impressive. This game will leave you and all your friends saying “Oooooh, that musta hurt” after that painful-looking leg break or throw. One of the down sides of this game is that you cannot throw people into walls or off cliffs like in DOA2 (well, it's good ol' Tekken); the arenas look great, but are more or less 2D. As 2D as the backgrounds get, TTT still has the most realistic looking backgrounds you can find today.
