WWF Smackdown 2

One of the maddest fun games of this year has definitely
been WWF Smackdown, which has stormed the charts and
obliterated every other wrestler game out there. It looks like it's
about to happen again with WWF Smackdown 2: Know Your Role.
Time to shout 'Can you smell what the Rock is cooking?'
again.

The most fantastic thing about Smackdown is its novel
backstage storylines that see you interacting with
other characters for some pretty serious moments outside
the ring. Smackdown 2 takes it a notch or two up with
battles in the car park, a VIP room and a dressing room.
And there's also the WWF Restaurant for your food fights.

New to the game are a couple of freaky modes such as
Ladder Matches. This involves you and your opponent
in the ring with a step ladder. It's nothing kinky,
just that the wrestler who's on the top of things will
be able to climb up and launch himself onto thier
floored opponent. The added height is bound to give you
greater momentum for extra squishiness.

Then there's the rather claustrophobic Coffin Match.
Here you fight in a ring with, yes that's right, a
coffin. The aim of this event is to get your opponent
into the coffin and completely scare them to death.
Once you've pinned them in you've won.

With 50 wrestlers in total and all new storylines as
well as a chunkier Create a Superstar mode, this should
be quite brilliant as a pressie for any occasion. Let's
hope, though, that these new features and new Tornado
Tag Team Matches are enough for the sequel, out only a
few months after the first.
