Bye, Bye Birdie

We love you Conrad, oh yes we do
We love you Conrad and we’ll be true

“One Last Kiss”

“Bye, Bye Birdie” is Lee Adams and Charles Strouse’s rock ‘n’ roll spoof on the frenzy created by Elvis Presley’s enlistment in the army. It is centered around the headaches one agent suffers when his star performer, Conrad Birdie, is drafted into the army, and his idea to create a final photo op by going to Smalltown, USA and having Conrad kiss the president of his fan club there. Needless to say, he turns the town upside down, hilarity ensues, and everyone lives happily ever after, including the agent and his long suffering secretary/girlfriend.

The girls go crazy as word of Conrad’s arrival spreads

G.S.S.’s production of “Bye, Bye Birdie” followed in the very popular footsteps of “Grease” by using dance and laughter to entertain. Using relatively simple sets and costumes but just having lots of fun, the company had a blast and the show was a great hit.
