The recent anniversary of the release of the movie version of Grease has reminded the world just how much pure fun Grease really is. The revival of the musical is still playing on Broadway, and is very popular. So many of the songs are recognizable to people the world over.
The story is quite simple -- in 1950s Everytown, America, a goody-two-shoes named Sandy falls in love with bad boy Danny, and despite the antics of their friends, they manage to live happily ever after (or at least until graduation! :-). Along the way we learn something of the loves and lives of a group of (fairly) normal teenagers as they try to deal with high school life, strange teachers and dance contests. Plus, of course, the odd guardian angel here and there! :-)
G.S.S. presented Grease in 1986 to a *very* appreciative audience, and remains one of everyone’s favourite productions to date. It also marked the first time a professional choreographer was asked to work with the cast, and the dance numbers only added to the enjoyment of everyone involved, and everyone who attended the show.
