The day I saw the fact that TechDeck are making Handboards I just though, I'm going to get one ASAP. But then I looked down the banner to see that they are coming soon. This greatly dissapointed me. So I opened the Handboard Web Page and downloaded all the videos. This made me like them more than before. I scrolled down and read all the info possible. Now I knew I had to make one. So over the next few days I though. Some of the things seemed impossible like making it out of wood. Some seemed hard like finding some Plexiglas. And some seemed to lame to work like cardboard. But finally I came up with an idea. In the garage there was some spare plastic. From this came the first handboard with wheels that roll (apart from TechDeck's, but they're not released yet). For the wheels I used some Lego wheels and some thick nails for axles. The same plastic for the hanger, except only as a block, not a true shape. This worked absolutely fine and I think as fine as the TechDeck one will.
It's hard to get used to, even if you fingerboard or skateboard. But skateboarding gives you an advantage because you should know how to do the tricks. Another hard thing is to get used to riding it. Its hard because #1 it's so big, and #2 its weird using your hands to push it, not your feet or fingers.
You can do greater spins with it because your arms can twist around each other quickly and easily. The way to do grabs hasn't yet been established but they should be when TechDeck release the Handboard. These will have more visible graphics, as they're about the size of an average ruler (30-cm). The weight of these will be increased to about .30 lbs., which is the equivelent of about 140 grams. The size is 2.5 times the fingerboard. This means that we won't be able to just make ramps and put them into a skatepark. We're gonna have to economize. This means finding things around the house and use them with the handboard. For example, a shoebox is a good grind box. For launch get a plank of wood and prop it up. The sink will still work for a vert. For you who want to make a Handboard, go to Fingerboard Online and go to the Handboard Info page. Here there will be step by step instruction to making your Handboard before they're released!
