In The Meantime…

By Bekka Mouri

(Bekka’s fears are with just cause.  As She, Tim and Aly meet the Scribes trouble is brewing in town)

The handsome Drule surveyed the destruction and a group of five Drule men that were dressed alike.  A few hours before one of Doom’s more unruly clubs had stood upon this land.  Now rubble stretched out at the man’s feet.  His mouth was turned down in a hard frown.

“ We could not find her here, Master Dagon,“ Said one of the Drules, a rugged looking man with eighteen-inch biceps.  A black leather vest covered his huge chest just barely and his black leather pants looked stressed against his huge leg muscles. His long white hair was tied back in a tight ponytail.

“ Then why did you destroy the club, Molag? “ Master Dagon arched a thick white eyebrow at the man, his golden green eyes flashing his disapproval.

Molag kicked at the dirt at his foot, “ They attacked us.  I really didn’t mean to.  I forget how powerful I am sometimes. “

A shorter Drule stepped forward.  His body was lithe but obviously strong.  “ I apologize for my brother but you will be glad to know the club was relatively empty.  It is still early in the day, Mehrunes, “ He sounded over confident and a little cocky.

“ Clavicus!  Address the master properly! “ Molag’s eyes grew wide.

Mehrunes raised a hand, “ I don’t care how you choose to address me.  All I care about is catching that slave girl.  I must bring her back to my estate my parents left to me when they died such an untimely death. “

Another one of the men stepped forward, “ Master, I have sent Malacath to search for information. “

“ Very good, Hircine, “ Mehrunes looked at the average looking Drule.  His appearance was deceiving though.  Out of the total of five bounty hunters he had hired, Hircine had telekinetic powers that he could use with expertise.  Mehrunes was glad the powerful Drule was on his side.

“ Where do you think she could be? “ The last Drule asked.  He seemed to be the youngest of all of them.  Like his fellow hunters, he was very muscular and handsome.  He would have been even more handsome if he did not have five huge scars across his throat that traveled mid-way down his chest.

“ That’s what I went to find out, Peryite, “ A voice made Peryite jump.

“ Malacath! “ Peryite looked at his older brother, “ Don’t scare me like that! “

Mehrunes looked at Malacath.  He had a smirk on his lips.  It was almost like the perfect twin of Peryite (minus the scratches) was going to laugh. “ What do you find so humorous? “ Mehrunes crossed his arms over his chest.

“ Well, you see Master Dagon, “ Malacath looked over his comrades, “ While they were destroying this club, I was finding out some very useful information about our escaped slave. “

“ Really now? “ Mehrunes stepped closer to the young man.  “ What would that be? “

Malacath motioned over his shoulder, “ A little old lady said she saw a young woman with purple streaked blonde hair go through her back alley just a night or so ago.  She was quite old and couldn’t remember exactly when it was but she said the girl was human. “

Mehrunes nodded, “ Which way was she heading? “

“ The old hag said she was going to the palace, “ Malacath whispered just so Mehrunes could hear him.

“ She was going where? “ Mehrunes’ eyes grew wide.

Malacath smiled, “ But I think she was only going there looking for work.  I am sure the prince will not hire her on once we show him that you own her. “

“ That’s right.  However, they are a couple of ways he could take her from us.  One way would be to pay me a large sum of money for her, “ Mehrunes placed a hand on his chin.

“ And the other way would be? “ Malacath asked.

“ To make her one of his harem women but he surely would not do that.  She belongs to me and she will just have to face it, “ Mehrunes grinned most wickedly.  He had wanted the girl for quite some time.  He never got the chance to have her though.  She had escaped before he could make her totally his own.

“ What do you want us to do now, Master Dagon? “ Molag tapped Mehrunes’ shoulder.

Mehrunes turned to face the men behind him.  “ We are going to the palace. “

“ The palace? “ The five men said in unison.

Malacath nodded, “ Yes, my bounty hunting comrades.  Our object lies behind the palace walls.  We will work out a plan as we go there. “

The five men looked at each other then followed their master and leader in the direction of the palace of Doom.

Bekka took in a sharp breath as her body broke out in a cold sweat.  Everyone rushed to her almost instantly as she clutched at her chest right above her heart.  Although their intentions were good, it made Bekka feel like she was suffocating even more than she already was.  Her chest heaved as she gasped for air; her body feeling like it was being crushed and plummeting at the same time.

Sarah was there almost instantly, “ Everyone get back! “ She shouted, trying to get to the woman.

“ Oh god no!  Not now! “ Bekka whined, clutching herself around the waist as the feeling increased so much, she though she were going to implode.

Everyone stood and stared at Bekka as she clutched herself with her free arm.  The hand over her heart tightened, her nails digging into the soft flesh of her bosom.  Sarah reached to her, “ Bekka, what’s wrong? “

“ Oh gods no.  Oh gods no, “ Bekka chanted over and over again, blood beginning to form where her nails dug into her pale flesh.

Tim ran over and tried to pry the hand away, afraid of Bekka hurting herself any more.  The hand would not budge and Tim was pretty strong.  “ Bekka!  Stop this!  Tell Sarah what’s wrong! “ He grabbed her shoulders and shook her.

“ Don’t do that! “ Sarah pushed him away.  “ You’ll only make her worse! “

Tim looked bewildered.  “ What’s wrong with her? “

Maeve stepped forward, slipping between Tim and Sarah.  She looked at the doctor then at the young man.  “ She is having a panic attack although this one is much worse than I have ever seen in my life.  Isn’t that right, Sarah? “

Sarah nodded, “ Yes, Maeve.  That is correct.  The only thing we can do for her right now is give her room to breathe and once it is over, she is going to have to go back to the hospital wing.  With panic attacks this severe, she will need to take something for them. “

Bekka’s grip loosened on her bosom and her waist.  She sighed before falling into the floor, her body too weak to move.  Everyone looked at her, not knowing what to think.  Sarah looked down at the woman, “ Bekka?  Are you all right? “

Bekka rolled on to her back weakly, her eyes wide.  “ They’re coming for me. “

“ Who’s coming for you? “ Tim knelt down next to her.

“ THEY are.  They’re coming to take me back.  Please protect me… “ Bekka whispered the last part before blacking completely out.

Sarah looked down at Tim, “ You stay here with her and I will go get a couple of strong interns to carry her to the infirmary.  I hope we’ll have plenty of time to find out what she is talking about. “

Beneath the blanket of unconsciousness, Bekka could feel all of the eyes on her.  She knew they were staring because of her display but she couldn’t help it.  The attacks struck without warning but this time she really felt like she was in danger this time.  She fell deeper in the blackness and could no longer feel anything.
