A Nameless Fic That Fits with Everything That’s Going On

By Bekka Mouri

Sarah tapped the tip of her tail on the floor.  She had tracked down all of the girls who had been given the bad batch of birth control.  All of them were in the lower harem and she had discussed their options with them.  She had given them time to decide exactly what they wanted to do with their babies.

Most of them were terrified at the thought of raising a child but believed the lie Zarkon had told them about becoming a Scribe if they bore him a son.  All of them had their fingers crossed, hoping their babies would indeed be boys.  Sarah couldn’t believe they took Zarkon’s word and went back to her office.  She placed the list in a folder and wondered how the harem’s missing ones were doing.

A knock on the door brought Bekka and Tim out of their session of kissing and cuddling.  “ Who could that be? “ Tim looked over his shoulder at the door.  He had shut it the night before because he felt like someone was watching him and Bekka.

Bekka wiggled out of his grip, “ It’s probably Namira. “

“ Bekka?  Are you okay? “ Namira asked through the door.

“ I’m fine.  Give me a moment, “ Bekka called back, getting on her knees so she could reach for her nightgown which was on the other side of Tim.  Her stomach brushed against his leg and he arched an eyebrow.  She noticed, “ What? “

“ Your stomach.  It feels a little harder than usual. “

Bekka’s eyes fell to the bed, “ I have something to tell you. “

The door opened and Namira poked her head in.  Her eyes fixed on Tim instantly.  “ Who are you? “ She asked, cocking her head to one side.

“ This is Tim.  He’s my boyfriend, Namira. “

Namira smiled, “ Oh yeah.  Bekka’s mentioned you a few times.  You are handsome! “

Tim blushed a little, “ Thank you, Namira.  Bekka says you have been taking care of her. “

“ Well, we’ve had a little help but he stays back in the shadows mostly.  Bekka’s doesn’t like him… “ Namira’s voice trailed off as Bekka gave her a dirty look.

“ A man has been helping you too?  Bekka didn’t mention him; “ Tim gave a slightly hurt look to Bekka.

“ He’s no one important.  He just stays behind us and makes sure no one follows. “

Tim nodded, “ I believe you.  When do I get to meet this ‘shadow’? “

Namira beamed, “ I can go get him right now if you want. “

Bekka quirked the corner of her mouth as she noticed something different.  Namira was just being too damn perky.  She was usually a lot quieter, less outgoing and seemed to be frightened of Ryat.  She slipped over Tim and out of the bed before heading to Namira, “ We have to talk, “ She muttered, grabbing the girl by the arm.

Namira let herself be tugged along as Bekka pulled her out into the hall.  Once the door was shut, Bekka looked at Namira.  “ What’s got you so revved up this morning? “

Namira squirmed a little, “ Nothing.  I just woke up in a really good mood, that’s all. “

Bekka crossed her arms over her chest the best she could.  Her chest had started to expand a little and she noticed it.  If it continued at the rate it was going, she would have to have a steel back bra to support herself.  “ Oh, okay.  Then I guess some REALLY big bug bit your neck while you were sleeping. “

Namira’s eyes went wide, “ What?  Where? “

Bekka reached out and pointed at three dark marks on Namira’s shoulder.  They were just barely visible because the nightgown had them covered.  “ Right there and there and there too.  I wonder if you have some more?  We had better tell the innkeeper he had pests. “

Namira tugged her nightgown off of her shoulder completely and looked.  She hadn’t realized it but Ryat had bit her while showing her what she wanted to know.  The girl looked down at her feet, “ They aren’t bug bites, Bekka. “

“ I know, “ Bekka placed a hand on Namira’s shoulder.  “ It’s okay.  Do you want to talk about it? “

Namira shook her head, “ No. “

“ It will make you feel better.  Did Ryat force himself on you? “ Bekka lifted Namira’s chin so she could look into her eyes.

Namira froze.  She had let Ryat do those things to her and she had been willing.  She shook her head again, “ No.  I let him. “

“ He didn’t threaten you or anything like that, did he? “ Bekka tried to keep a level head.  Namira was much more delicate than most seventeen year olds and she wanted to make sure Ryat hadn’t taken advantage of that fact.

“ No.  I saw you and Tim last night.  My body felt weird and I tried to go back to my room but I had to shut my eyes so I wouldn’t look back.  I ended up in his room and it just happened. “

“ Did he try to stop?  Did he ask you if you were okay with it? “

Namira nodded, “ He warned me that it would hurt and he didn’t want you to find out.  I told him to keep going.  I wanted to know… “

Bekka shook her head, “ It’s okay.  I was just worried he made you do it.  I’ll have to talk to him… “

            Namira grabbed Bekka’s hand, “ Please don’t.  I told him I wouldn’t say anything. “

Bekka arched an eyebrow, “ Okay.  But if he treats you in any way that makes you feel bad, tell me.  He’ll be a dead man if he ever hurts you like he hurt me. “

Namira nodded, not for sure what Bekka meant.  She locked gazes with her again, “ He was really nice though. “

Bekka smirked, “ Yeah... He can be.  Why don’t I go wake him up and you go get ready to leave?  Tim is going to contact his sister so he can get us back to the palace. “

Namira’s eyes lit up, “ Oooh!  I want to go to the palace!  Is it pretty there? “

Bekka smiled, “ The harem is.  Now scoot! “

Namira bounded off towards her room and Bekka stared at Ryat’s door.  She wanted to kill him for taking Namira.  She kept reminding herself that the girl had went along with it but it still seemed unfair.  Bekka wanted Namira to be a bit more prepared before her first time with a man.

She wanted to laugh at the way she felt.  She was acting like a mother would about a daughter.  She looked at the door again, recalling the night she had saved Ryat’s life.  It had been when she thought he could walk on water and that he loved her as much as she loved him.

She remembered every single detail of that night vividly; Ryat had gotten into fight with another trader and won.  However, he was so spent by the time he reached the cruiser, he stumbled and hit his head on the landing gear.  Bekka heard the noise and ventured out to see what it was.  She was horrified to find him unconscious and bleeding.

She struggled to pull him into the cruiser for over an hour, exhausting her strength.  She finally got him in enough to close the hatch and look at his wound in the light.  The blood had dried a bit but he was still bleeding from the gash on his forehead.  She cleaned the wound and bandaged it before dragging him to the sleeping quarters.

For four days, she stayed by his side afraid she would lose him.  He faded in and out several times, muttering incoherently.  When he regained his senses, he found her cuddled up next to him, holding his hand.  He never said thank you but Bekka took it for granted that he appreciated her help.

Bekka reached for the doorknob, wondering if Ryat even remembered that he would be dead if it weren’t for her…
