Going Home
By Bekka Mouri

(Things are started into motion.)

~Aly… ~ Tim sent the message out through the mental
link.  He waited for a few moments and tried again.
~Yes Tim? ~ The answer finally came.
~What took you so long? ~ Tim asked.
~I was… thinking and I didn’t hear you the first
time, ~ Aly responded.  She had a lot of things on her
mind since Mehrunes’ death, one of them being the
strange feeling she had about the sudden changes in
her body.  The other thing that had been bugging her
was the fact Lotor was taking each of the Scribes on
‘special’ trips.  She wondered how he would react to
her since she had been with two other men first.
~Okay.  Well, I have Bekka and she’s got this friend
who she wants to bring back with her.  Do you think
you could wrangle up a cruiser and come get us? ~
Aly thought for a moment.  The ex-bounty hunters had
all recently been certified to pilot cruisers and she
knew that one or two could be spared.  ~Sure.  Let me
ask around, I’m sure I can find someone to help.
Lotor isn’t here right at the moment. ~
~What?  Why? ~ Tim arched an eyebrow.
~He wants to get to know the Scribes again since he’s
been so busy, ~Aly sounded uneasy as she explained.
She had felt something wasn’t quite right since Lotor,
Michelle and Tam had left.  ~ He’s planning to take
every one of us, two at a time, on pleasure trips. ~
~Sounds fun, ~ Tim knew what that meant.  Bekka would
have to go eventually.  He had a strange feeling about
Bekka since he had found her.  He could sense some
kind of magical power around her but, as far as he
knew, she had no magic in her at all.
~Well, you know that was part of the deal, Timmy,
~Aly reminded him.  ~Even I am going to have to go to
him.  Not that I mind… ~
~Stop that!  Think about him on your own time, ~ Tim
could see the thoughts Aly was coming up with about
what she wanted to do with the prince.
~Sorry! ~ Aly giggled, ~I’ll see what I can do and
I’ll let you know when we leave. ~
~Good.  I have to get ready to go and so does Bekka.
~
~What about her friend? ~ Aly reminded him.  She
could sense he was a little apprehensive.
Tim sighed, ~Well, she’s Mehrunes’ little sister.
Aly, she a good kid but I can feel some magic in her
and it feels like Daedra magic.  I have to find out
where she was when Hermaeus was killing her parents.
I’m afraid that she may have come into contact with
him. ~
~You mean like exchanged blood or something? ~ Aly
went cold all over.  Daedras were notorious for making
mortals advanced magic users by just exchanging a
small amount of blood.  More times than not, the
mortals would go mad from the power it gave them.
Sometimes the madness was permanent and temporary
madness was very rare; only those with strong wills
could overcome it.
        ~Yeah, ~ Tim said quietly.  ~If I remember correctly,
the kid was in a sanitarium for a long time. ~
Aly was silent.  She recalled Mehrunes telling Bekka
about how his sister had went mad.  She wondered how
come the girl was out of the hospital and hoped she
wouldn’t be a danger.  The last thing the harem needed
was more problems.
~Are you still there, Al? ~ Tim brought her out of
her thoughts.
        ~Yeah.  I’m here.  I’ll go find a pilot and we’ll be
there soon, okay?  Keep the link open so we can find
you. ~
~You got it, sis, ~ Tim said.  ~See you in a little
bit. ~
        ~Until then, ~ Aly replied.

Aly walked around the harem, looking for one of the
ex-bounty hunters.  They were only allowed to pilot
some of the smaller cruisers and she was hoping to
find Clavicus or Peryite.  Molag was too big and
wouldn’t leave much room for anyone else.  Clavicus
was the thinnest of all of them and she wanted to find
the wisecracking Drule quickly.
The sounds of laughter attracted her attention,
pinpointing his position.  When he wasn’t on duty, he
could be found in the lounge, entertaining all who
would stop in.  It was possible he would have made a
wonderful court jester if he hadn’t been attracted to
a life of crime.  She stepped into the lounge just in
time to see him do a handstand while singing a bawdy
Drule folk song.
Aly applauded with everyone else as he flipped in the
air, landing gracefully on his feet.  He took a bow
but stopped when he realized Aly was in the door.  She
could tell he sensed her urgency.  “ Thank you,
everyone!  But alas, I must go! “
The small crowd of manslaves groaned in
disappointment.  Just then, the distinctive snap of
fingers could be heard.  “ That’s Lady Gina!  Let’s
go! “ One of them said and the crowd headed for the
other door that led from the lounge, leaving Aly and
Clavicus behind.
“ Ah ha!  Saved by the snap! “ Clavicus joked and
laughed but stopped, noticing Aly wasn’t even smiling.
 “ Is everything okay? “
“ Yeah.  I have a lot on my mind.  Say, could you
help me out? “
Clavicus bowed, “ I am at your command, Lady Alyssa.
“ Come on, “ She grabbed his hand, “ We have to go
get Bekka and Tim. “
“ He found her?  Lady Bekka IS alive? “ Clavicus
clasped Aly’s hand.
        Aly nodded, “ Yeah.  Let’s go. “
Clavicus looked down at the floor, “ Lady Aly… “
        “ What? “
        “ I haven’t told the truth, “ He sighed.  “ I didn’t
pass my pilot’s test.  Everyone assumed since my
brother and Peryite passed, I did as well.  I just let
everyone think I did. “
“ Why didn’t you pass? “ Aly whispered.
Clavicus looked into her eyes, “ Cossack said I speed
too much and I am a little too reckless.  He said I
need to learn how to control that and then he’ll let
me be certified. “
Aly grinned wickedly, “ Speed is what we need, my
friend.  I’ll cover for you if you get into trouble. “
Clavicus blinked, “ But I can’t check out one of the
guard corps cruisers without certification. “
“ Who said you was going to use one of those?  Come
on, “ Aly tugged Clavicus behind her as she set out to
the bay where the harem cruisers were kept.

Bekka looked at herself one last time in the mirror.
She couldn’t believe she was finally going home.  A
light flutter in her stomach startled her and she put
her hand there.  ~Are you happy too, little one? ~ She
asked the baby.
Another flutter came in response and Bekka smiled.
Suddenly, a cold shiver ran down her spine, like
something was going to happen.  “ I must be nervous
about returning, “ Bekka muttered to herself.
“ Don’t be nervous, “ Tim whispered, sliding his
hands around to the one that rested on her stomach.
They all want you back there as soon as possible… “
Bekka noticed Tim’s voice trail off as he pressed his
hands on her stomach a little harder, “ What? “
Tim moved his hands around, “ Is there something you
need to tell me?  Something isn’t right… Your stomach…
it feels hard. “
Bekka took a sharp breath; it was now or never.  She
wouldn’t be able to hide the truth too much longer,
not at the rate her chest and stomach were growing.
She shut her eyes and let her mouth form the words, “
Tim… I… I’m pregnant. “
Tim turned her to face him, “ You’re what? “
“ Tim, “ Bekka whispered, a tear slipping down her
cheek, “ That’s what I have been trying to tell you. “
Tim blinked.  It was all starting to fall into place.
He remembered the boy who had come to him and told
him to stay in the inn.  He looked like her but he
also looked like… “ Oh gods, Bekka. “
Bekka pulled Tim closer, “ You’re not the father. “
        “ I know, “ Tim whispered into her hair.  “ It’s
Hermaeus’. “
Bekka sobbed, “ Yes.  Tim, I want to keep him.  He
saved my life.  He let Namira know the house was going
to catch on fire. “
Tim gripped her tighter, “ I won’t argue with you.  I
met him.  He told me to stay here and wait for you.
He’s a good kid. “
Bekka looked up at Tim, “ You met him? “
        “ Yeah.  He’s a handsome little devil, isn’t he? “
“ What did he look like when you saw him? “ Bekka
asked, furrowing her brow.
Tim smiled, “ He had clay colored eyes, long red hair
with golden streaks and was dressed like Hermaeus.  He
had your smile, nose and looked like you around his
eyes.  When I saw him, I thought I recognized some of
you in him. “
“ That’s him, Tim.  That’s my baby.  He helped me
help Gina kill Mehrunes.  I also met Kennith. “
“ You did? “ Tim had often heard stories of mothers
meeting their children in dreams but never meeting
another mother’s child.
Bekka nodded, “ He looks like Keith and Gina both. “
        “ Wow, “ Tim whispered.
“ He was so scared and he begged me to help Gina.
Tim, I held her hand in mine and we killed that
bastard together. “
~But how?  She has no magic in her… ~ Tim thought to
himself, a bolt of realization traveling through his
body.  The child she was carrying had Daedra blood in
him.  His blood was going through Bekka’s system as
well.  It would do so until they were separated after
he was born but his magic would remain in her.
        “ What’s wrong? “ Bekka noticed Tim’s breathing
changed.  He sounded like he was panicking over
something.
Tim shook his head, “ Nothing. “
Bekka didn’t quite believe him but she didn’t
question him any further.  All she wanted to do now
was go home.
