Much has been said in recent months about the new century and the new millenium. Have you assumed this is true because it is so often repeated? The truth is that Jan. 1, 2000, began neither a new century nor a new millenium. It began the last year of the 20th Century and the last year of the Second Millenium A.D.
The first century began with the Year 1 and lasted through the end of the Year 100. The 20th Century began Jan. 1, 1901, and ends Dec. 31, 2000.
