Egg Art Tutorial #3.

29. Open the "Gold satin tile" that I have provided. I have followed a tutorial for making background textures by "Robin's Paint Shop Resources" at: ["http://www.putertutor.net/"].
I have used the concept and then changed the settings on a number of occasions until I have come up with the "Tile" that I like.

Click on the "Magic Wand Tool." Magic Wand Tool Hold down the "Shift Key" and left click inside the "White area" of the top and bottom ellipses.

30. Click on the "Flood Fill Tool" Floodfill Tool and in the "Tool Options Pallet," Tool Options Pallet change from solid color to pattern. Click on the middle tab and scroll down until you have "goldsatn.jpg" selected. Left click inside the "Marching Ants" in the white area of one of the ellipses. The Gold Satin will fill both of the inside ellipses.

31. While the "Marching Ants" are still active, add a new layer and name it "Cutout1." Go to "Image/effects/cutout" and apply these settings: "Fill interior with color=unchecked; color=black, Opacity=80, blur=7, vertical=10, horizontal=0." Click Ok. Deselect.

32. Time to save your work again. Make sure the "Layers Option Pallet" Layers Option Pallet is open. Turn off the background layer [layer 1]. Go to "layers/merge/merge visible." Activate the merged layer. Right click on this layer and in the box that pops up, click on properties and rename the layer, "egg." Turn the background layer on again. Go to "File/save/" and save your work by clicking on Ok."

33. Add a new layer and name it "chassis." Make sure foreground color is dusty gold ["#DCCC96"].
Click on the "Preshapes Tool" Preshapes Tool and choose, "rectangle rounded/filled" and starting at the co-ordinates width="20" x height="310" drag across to the right and down until you reach co-ordinates width="330" x height="320". You now have a rail "310" x "10". Deselect.

34. Add a new layer and name it "dingbats." Click on the "Text Tool" Text Tool and then left click on the center/top of the "rail." The "Text Tool Options Pallet" will open. Select a Dingbat that you like for the "Chassis Fancywork," or you can use a font as I have done. Once you have the "Chassis fancywork" at both ends of the "Rail" to support the "coach," merge the "Chassis" and "dingbats" layers. Rename this "merged layer" by right clicking/properties and rename "Chassis."

35. Click on the "Magic Wand Tool" Magic Wand Tool and holding down the "Shift key," touch the "dingbats" and the "Marching Ants" appear. Go to "Image/effects/sculpture," and apply the shiny gold color. "While the "marching ants" are still active, go to "Edit/copy" and then "Edit/paste/paste as new image." Go to "file/save as" and save this image as "rail.psp" and minimize to use later. Deselect.

36. I have used the "CommercialScript MT" font and the capital letter "J." I have then, rotated, flipped and rotated 3 "J's" from the center to the left of the rail. Click on the "Magic Wand Tool" Magic Wand Tool and holding down the "Shift key," touch the "J's" and the "Marching Ants" appear. Go to "Image/effects/sculpture," and apply the shiny gold color."
Go to "Edit/copy" and then "Edit/paste/as new selection." Go to "Image/mirror" and move the new "J's" to the right of the rail and join with the left ones. Deselect.

37. Add a new layer and name it "wheels." Make sure foreground color is dusty gold ["#DCCC96"]. Click on the "Preshapes Tool" Preshapes Tool and choose, "circle/stroked/size=5". Start at the left hand side and in the center of the "rail," draw a circle 50 pixels wide.
38. Add a new layer and name it "spokes." Click on the "Drawing Tool" Drawing Tool and choose, "single line/width=2". Start at the top inside edge of the "Wheel" and draw a line straight down. Start at the left hand inside of the "wheel" and draw a straight line across to the right inside edge.
39. Add a new layer and name it "hub." Click on the "Preshapes Tool" Preshapes Tool and choose, "circle/filled". Start at the mid point of the "wheel," and draw a circle 10 pixels wide.

40. Make sure the "Layers Option Pallet" is open. Layers Option Pallet Turn off the background layer, the "egg" layer and the "Chassis" layer. Go to "layers/merge/merge visible." Activate the merged layer. Right click on this layer and in the box that pops up, click on properties and rename the layer, "wheel." Turn the layers on again. Go to "File/save/" and save your work by clicking on Ok." [Remember you are still saving with the ".psp extension."]

41. Activate the "wheel layer." Click on the "Magic Wand Tool" Magic Wand Tool and holding down the "Shift key," touch the "wheel" and the "Marching Ants" appear. Go to "Image/effects/sculpture," and apply the shiny gold color." Go to "Edit/copy" and then "Edit/paste/as new image." Go to "File/save as" and save as "wheel.psp." Minimize to use later.

42. Activate the "Chassis Layer." Go to "Edit/paste/paste as new selection" and with the "Mover Tool" Mover Tool position the wheel at the left hand side of the "chassis rail." Deselect. Go to "Edit/paste/paste as new selection." Position this second wheel to the right side end of the "chassis rail." Deselect.

43. Open the image "rail.psp." Go to "Edit/copy." Activate the "Chassis layer." Go to "Edit/paste/paste as new layer" and the "rail image" will appear on this new layer. Open the "wheel.psp" image. Go to "Edit/copy" and then "Edit/paste/paste as new layer."
With the "Mover Tool" Mover Tool position the wheel at the left hand side of the "chassis rail." Deselect. Go to "Edit/paste/paste as new selection." Position this second wheel to the right side end of the "chassis rail." Deselect.
44. Now this is important. We need to place the "Wheels" behind the new "rail. Left click on the "wheels" layer and drag the layer down and behind the "chassis rail" layer.

Make sure the "Layers Option Pallet" is open. Layers Option Pallet Turn off the background layer. Go to "layers/merge/merge visible." Activate the merged layer. Right click on this layer and in the box that pops up, click on properties and rename the layer, "coach." Turn the layers on again. Go to "File/save/" and save your work by clicking on Ok."

45. Now you have your finished "Cinderella's Coach" you can add "Layers" and use your Tubes to decorate the Coach. If you have one new layer for each tube, you will be able to position each tube exactly where you want each one in your Coach.

46. It is now time to choose what type of "Background" pattern you would like to have to show up your "Cinderella's Coach. I chose the "purple satin" tile that I made and have supplied for you to use, if you wish.

47. Activate the "background layer." Open the "purple_satin.jpg" tile. Click on the "Flood Fill Tool" Flood Fill Tool. Click on the "Tool Options Pallet" Tool Options Pallet and change from "Solid Color" to "Pattern." Click on the middle tab and scroll down until you find the "purple_satin.jpg" tile. Left click on the activated "Background layer" and it will be filled with the satin tile.

48. Go to "layers/merge/merge all flatten." Go to "File/save as" and save your work in
".jpg format." I saved mine as "cinders.jpg."

Congratulations! You have finished.

Now you have the basis for producing many more Faberge Eggs. Use your imagination and design elaborate "Eggs" and then decorate with many different jewels. Have fun
