Red Anderson

Full Name: *the boy crosses his arms and raises an eyebrow* Red Anderson--what's it to ya? *he turns his head and spits* *his real name is Nicholas, but he doesn't care to tell most people this*
Age: *he shrugs and frowns* What is dis? Dat ain't none 'a yer bizness! *he is annoyed, in a loud, sort of obnoxious way* *and is nearly, eighteen, incidentally*
Appearance: *he rolls his pale brown eyes and sighs loudly* I don't see why ya can't tell fer yaself... *he shakes his head but complies* Red hair, brown eyes, tall. Dat enough for ya? *his complexion is ruddy, matching his dark red hair. Red is about 6 feet tall, and of stocky build, muscular*
Background: *he makes a clucking sound with his tongue and shakes his head* I don't think you get dis. I'm in charage 'round dis joint. Don't nobody ask me dese damn stupid questions. *Red ran away from an upscale family in Conneticut and would like to avoid being caught very much until he reaches his eighteenth birthday and is free of his parents' control--or so he hopes anyway. His accent and tough street kid image are, needless to say, completely false, but Red is not stupid and does a pretty good job covering this fact up. He knows it is his ticket to fitting in and to maintaining his role as leader of the East Harlem newsboys*
Relationships: I watch out fer alla me boys. *he nods* Costello's my best friend, but we'se all friends 'round heah. *not true, but he'd like to keep up the image* *he purposely makes no mention of girls; he is not terribly good in relationships, though he would never admit it*
Other notes: *Red is somewhat arrogant, can be very pig-headed, and is mildly chauvenistic, but he is not a bad guy at heart. Despite these downfalls, he is intelligent and a good leader, particularly at delgating and making the boys feel as if they belong. He has never been on the greatest terms with the girls, particularly due to his love of power. When forced to share the boys house with girls (prior to the founding of their own house), he constantly butted heads with the girls' unofficial leader, Cassandra.*

*In the fall of 1900, just a few months before his 18th birthday, Red was apprehended by police and returned to his parents in Conneticut. Thinking him somewhat of a delinquent, they promptly shipped him back to the boarding school Red had worked so hard to run away from*
