Sketch sat on her buck pouting. No one was home but her and Mrs. Evens. She didn't know where anyone was nor did she care; what she really wanted to do was go jump of the roof...or at least that's what she felt like.
It was January 29, the day after her seventeenth birthday which ended up a snowy, cold, boring, horrible day. All the girls had said happy birthday, presented presents, made her a cake, even Smoke had come to visit her, but still her day wasn't happy like it was supposed to be. The one person she really would have wanted to remember the day not only forgot but wasn't even around then. That one person being Griffin.
Sketch sat there swinging her feet in a daze. Her forehead was tense and she was flaring her nose every time she would breath. "NAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!" Sketch roared as she tried throwing her sweater, which only got wrapped around her arm frustrating her more. She struggled to get it off her and tumbled on to the ground in the process. She sat there dumbfounded then started to laugh about what had just happened. Meeks laughed and started rolling about like a child; her mind had floated off to its deranged world of happiness. But of course the moment came crashing down in less than a second.
"SKETCH MY LOVEEEEEE! HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" Cole Bailey burst into the room, as loud as ever, and with his "signature charming most handsome lovely wondddddderful smile" - or so he called it. Sketch groaned and hit her head repeatedly on the floor. "Sketchy? Love?" He questioned, "Don't that 'urt? Stop... Stop " He grabbed her head with both his scrawny hands trying to stop her as she inflicted pain.
"Gawddamn it Bailey! Shove off!" She smacked him across the face. "What have I said 'bout touchin' me? GAWD!" She sat up and scowled at him. Oh she tried to play it off like she hated him, but the truth was she didn't. Imp and everyone teased her so much a couple years before about liking him, which she did but would never in her life admit to.
Cole rubbed his cheek and started to sob. "Sketch Meeks! All youse do ta me is abuse me! It's not fair! All I do is love! LOVE FOR JESUS LOOOOVE!" He started to sniffle and covered his eyes with his dirty palms.
Rolling her eyes Sketch replied coolly, "Cole, give it up. I know your not crying... and if you were it would jus' prove me point 'bout you bein' a big sissy! But yeah... I'm in a bad mood so jus' leave me alone." She jumped on her bunk and buried her head.
Cole glanced up and stopped his pathetic attempt for attention realizing he wasn't going to get it right then. He poked Sketch's side repeatedly.
"Go away..."
"But...I have a biiiirthday present for you beauuuuutiful lovely Sketchy dearest!" He grinned.
"Fine Cole. What do you have for me?" She tossed over so she was facing him.
He leaned towards him puckering his lips; she shrieked and shoved him. "THAT IS THE MOST REPULSIVE NASTY DIRTY THING YOUSE TRYED YET COLE BAILEY! GOOO AWAAAAAAY!"
He shrugged and had his grin plastered on his bony face. "Worth a try darlin'. Here's me real gift...” He pulled pathetic looking flower outta his pocket. It was a daisy crumpled to the point of withering. Sketch took it from him with a slight smile.
"Thanks Cole..." She looked at him. "At least you 'membered me birthday unlike some people I knows...." She sighed and went into a daze.
Cole's smile faded as he waved his hand around her face. She blinked and looked at him. "I'm tired, Ise gonna go to sleep..."
"GREAT! I WILL TOO! RIGHT HERE IN THIS BUNK!" Cole pounced onto a nearby bunk. Sketch growled. Then she got an idea and sat up smirking.
"Oh Coley!! Lets 'ave a snow fight!!!!" She sat up and headed for the window. Cole sat up grinning stupidly and followed. Sketch moved outta the way and let him go out first. When he started down the fire escape Sketch slammed the window shut and latched it. Laughing insanely, she got back in her bed and tried to sleep. She fell asleep despite the annoying constant tapping of Cole on the glass.
Stay tuned! More to come!
