Harlow MAG
Weekend trip to "The Lofthouse" belgium

August Bank Holiday 2002

Yes, we organised a trip away from Harlow! Although it must have been too scary for some of our members as we only ended up with 3 of us going! John, myself and Simon - a happy little trio!

Set off on the Sat with no problems, except to say that my luggage resembled the expedition of Scott! (due mainly to the fact the John has absolutely no luggage carrying capacity on his plastic fantastic).

Anyway we arrived at the Lofthouse - and had a very enjoyable time - so enjoyable in fact we had to stay an extra day! This was however due to some rather impromptu drinking by 'the boys' on our last evening after sharing numerous tall stories and awful jokes with some Chopper Club lads who sensibly went to bed at around midnight (they had just come back from the Chopper Club National Rally!) - I myself went soon after, leaving 'The Boys' saying 'we'll just have another one' - apparently it turned out it was the owners birthday. 6 hours later John staggers in through the bedroom door making very strange noises which sounded like speach (but wasn't).

Simon followed about half an hour later moaning about John leaving him with the ugly-troll-like barmaid! (she wasn't THAT bad!). She (very sensibly) said Simon was too young, and should 'go to bed'!! Earlier on this evening, she had stated to John quite calmly 'your friend has his hand on my bottom'! A fine way for one of our members to introduce himself - and he is our Rep for God's sake!!!

Of course, by now I am fully awake - John starts to cough in a very strange way and then proceeds to chunder violently in our quite small sink. I decide its time to vacate the room and go to the loo down the corridor.......................

Next morning very BAD hangovers ensued - Simon resembled a shabby dog curled up in a very untidy pile of dog blankets, and John looked like Frankenstein with a Beard! I managed Breakfast (they didn't move) then had to amuze myself all morning reading some book about how to ride effectively (yawn).

Anyway, a full recovery was made - eventually - and we did actually get out in the evening to a fish restaurant in Ostende. We also visited Bruge on our trip where John and I bought some lovely tapestries and visited the Castle.
