Hello! My name is Jennie and this is my page. Why the love for Jean Harlow? She was amazing. I had been in love with Marilyn Monroe for as long as I can remember and never heard anything of Jean other than the rumor that Marilyn (as Norma Jean) had been named partly for Jean Harlow. This really meant nothing to me back then. As time went on and I grew up, I became interested in photography. My parents are also photographers, so this wasn't a surprise to anyone. My dad had bought a book by George Hurrell. Late one night a friend of mine and I were looking through the book trying to find people that we resembled. For her, it was easy. There was Joan Crawford, Jane Russell and Norma Shearer. For me, it wasn't easy. I was so upset because there was no one! Then we came across Jean Harlow, and we have the same lips. I thought Harmony was lying to me, but we had found the one I looked like. So the Jean obssession began. For one of my photo classes we had to do portraits, and a report on a photographer. I chose to combine the two, and I shot self portraits that were copies of some Hurrell had done of Jean. Needless to say, they are my favorite pictures I have ever done. :)
Jean
was just a wonderful actress and an amazing human being. She embodied everything
that was Hollywood then and she had everything so many Hollywood stars
lack today. She really didn't care. How many times would she go out with
no make-up on and not look the part of a Hollywood star? She was taken
from the world far too soon, but there is always that question... If she
had lived longer, would she be the legend that she is today?
