Chapter 1

It was another crazy day in Harmony. Luis was running from call to call helping out where he could and arresting and ticketing people where he couldn't. Luis looked up at the clock and saw it was ten o'clock p.m. He had three more hours left in his shift and he was not happy about it. He was sitting at his desk in the station, working on some paper work when the phone rang.
"Officer Lopez-Fitzgerald."
"Hey Luis!" Theresa said happily.
"Theresa, why do you sound so happy? Luis wanted to know. "I don't know I just in a good mood. When will you be home tonight?"
Luis glanced at his watch and said, "In about 2 ½ hours, why?" Theresa frowned, "I just wanted to know. Whitney and I are going to go out for a little bit tonight and I didn't want you to worry if you got home before me."
"Where's mama at?" Luis asked.
"She already went to bed, but she said it was okay for me to go out. It's Friday after all." Theresa told him. Luis rubbed his eyes and sighed," Alright but you better be home right after me."
"Aren't you going to the bar with Hank tonight, to do whatever it is you do?" Theresa wanted to know.
Luis had forgotten, "Yeah, but I have to come home and change first so I'll see you tonight. Hey, where's Miguel?"
Theresa pursed he lips thinking. "I think he went to the Bennett's with Reese to see Kay and Charity. He said something about going to the Chicken Shack too." Luis looked at the clock again and said, "Ok. Talk to you later. Love ya."
"I love you too Luis. Be careful."
Luis hung up the phone and grinned. His little sister was always trying to protect him.

Meanwhile.

Sheridan Crane sat alone in front of her TV eating ice cream. Where had she gone wrong? Just last year she was living in Paris, living the high life. Now look at her. It was so depressing she felt like crying. Oh, no, she thought, I can't feel sorry for myself or Luis will kick my ass. She could just hear him now, 'Poor little rich Crane.' When was he going to understand that she wasn't like the rest of her family? Her and Ethan both, neither of them was like Julian or Alister. She was watching Christmas Vacation for the millionth time when the phone rang. "Hello?" No one responded. "Hello? Is anyone there??" Nothing. Sheridan shrugged and hung up the phone. Wrong number I guess, she thought. About an hour later the phone rang again. Sheridan picked it up and said, "Hello?" No one answered again. She was getting angry; "I said hello! Is anyone there?" Then she heard the heavy breathing. "Creep!" Disgusted she slammed the phone down. She was just getting back into the movie when the phone rang again. She debated on picking it up, and finally did. "Hello!"
She said sharply.
Sheridan didn't hear anything at first then she heard, "I'm comin' for you b****!"
"Who is this! I said who is this!" Sheridan demanded. All she got in response was a dial tone. It's just someone's sick idea of a joke, she thought. She gave up on watching the movie and switched it off. She walked over to the stereo and turned it on. She started back over to the couch and lay down. Before she knew it she was asleep. Sheridan was in a deep sleep when something pulled her out of it. Then she realized it was the doorbell ringing that woke her up. She got up and stumbled to the door. She tried to open it but the chain was still on, it was just too much trouble to take it off so she left it. She looked out the door but no one was there. She called out but no one answered. She shut the door and was walking to her bedroom when the doorbell rang again. That woke her all the way up. She walked back to the door and peered out the peephole.
Nothing was there. She opened the door again, but still there was no one there. Now she was starting to get scared.

Luis was putting on his jacket and getting ready to walk out the door when the phone rang. He looked at the clock he had ten minutes left. "Officer Lopez-Fitzgerald." "Luis?"
"Sheridan?"
"Luis, I need you."

Chapter 2

"What? Did I hear correctly? Big bad Sheridan Crane needs little ol' me? Can't you open the peanut butter jar, yourself?" Luis said snidely.
"Just shut up Luis! I'm serious. Someone is harassing me. I've just gotten phone calls and someone was at my door twice. I'm scared." Sheridan told him.
Luis suddenly got serious. "Are they still there?"
"No one has called or knocked in about 15 min."
"Okay. I'm on my way." Luis hung up the phone and sighed, 'oh well everyone loves overtime' he thought.

Sheridan hung up and started pacing the room. She glanced nervously at the door and at the phone. Then it rang. Sheridan ran over to the phone and picked it up violently, "What do you want!!" She screamed.
"You had to go get your cop boyfriend didn't ya. He'll pay too. Just you wait."
Sheridan looked at the phone in horror. What had she gotten Luis in to?

Luis flew down the streets of Harmony, with one thing on his mind, Sheridan. That surprised him too. Suddenly the thought of her not being around made him sick. Luis flipped on the sirens and hauled ass to Sheridan's cottage. He pulled into her driveway with his headlights off, and got out slowly. He had turned the siren off about a mile back and he was going for the silent approach. He circled the house slowly with his gun drawn and saw no sign of anyone. He decided to go in and get more details about the crime.

Sheridan was pacing nervously in her living room wondering what was keeping Luis. She heard something at the door, and then there was a loud knock. She was scared out of her mind and grabbed the nearest thing, which happened to be a golf club. Sheridan then moved behind the door and opened it. A dark figure crept in slowly and whispered her name creepily. That was all Sheridan needed. She swung her arm up high and brought the club down swiftly.
Luis saw the door open, but no one was in the doorway. Alarmed, he crept in slowly whispering her name. He heard a small noise behind him and turned.
The sight that met him was Sheridan all fiery eyed and brandishing a club.
He caught the club before it struck him.
"Luis! I didn't even hear you pull up!" Sheridan cried. She smacked him on the arm, "You scared the shit of me you ass!!"
Luis caught her arms and looked into her eyes, "I was going for the silent approach to try and catch him in the act."
Sheridan collapsed into Luis's arms tiredly. "Sheridan! Sheridan are you ok?" He picked her up and carried her over to the couch and laid her down.
Sheridan looked up at Luis and said, "I'm sorry. I'm just so tired. I've been afraid to sleep, but now that you're here I feel safe. Stay with me Luis. Please."
Sheridan was looking at him pleading with her eyes. Luis couldn't resist her. "Okay. Can I use your phone to call Sam, and Mama?" Sheridan smiled at him, "Of course, you can use the phone in my bedroom if you want some privacy."
Luis walked in to Sheridan's bedroom and called Sam first.
"Chief Bennett." Sam said groggily.
"Chief, this is Luis. I'm Sheridan Crane's cottage."
"What are you doing there? I thought your shift ended an hour ago?"
Luis sighed. "It did. Ten minutes before I was off she called with a report of a harasser. He was calling her and trying to get in her house. She wants me to stay with her. I think it would be a good idea in case he comes back."
"Your right Luis. I want you on a full on stakeout. Stay at her place and act like your leaving for work the next day. Then double back and stay with her."
"What about the community center? We both work there, so she can go there right? Since I will be there." Luis asked anxiously. He didn't want to let the kids down.
Sam replied, "Yeah that's good but try to stay at the cottage at night, so we can get this asshole."
Luis hung up and started to dial his mother. 'Man,' Luis thought, 'Mama's going to be angry that I won't be there to help her.'
"Lopez-Fitzgerald house."
"Hey mama, its Luis."
"Luis! I've been worried sick. Your shift ended an hour ago. Where are you?"
"Sorry mama, I got a call and had to go out on it. It was Sheridan Crane.
Someone is harassing her and I have to be on a full stakeout here till we catch him."
" Is Sheridan alright?"
"Yeah, she's fine I better go now so I can do my job. I love you, mama."
"I love you too, Luis. Be careful."
Before leaving her bedroom, Luis took a quick look around. It was neat and clean with little feminine knick-knacks around. He saw a bottle of her perfume and picked it up and smelled it. It smelled clean and fresh, just like her. 'Get a hold of yourself man! You have a job to do!' Luis put down the bottle and walked into the parlor.
Sheridan was asleep on the couch. He smiled, and picked her up and carried her to her room. On the way there she wrapped her arms around him and snuggled closer. He laid her on the bed and covered her up. Luis found an extra blanket and pillow in the hall closet. He drove his patrol car down the street and walked back. He was dog-tired when he sprawled out on the couch in his boxers.

Chapter 3

When Sheridan awoke the next day she sensed a feeling of peace within her self. 'Now how can that be,' she wondered, 'I was harassed last night.' She walked out of her bedroom and then realized why she felt so at ease. Officer Lopez-Fitzgerald was laying in an inhuman fashion on the couch in his boxers, sound asleep. 'And looking adorably cute too' Sheridan thought. 'He has the best body I have ever seen! Not to mention he was a pretty nice guy when he wanted to be, and he had stayed like she asked.' Sheridan was feeling rather domestic, and they still had a while till it was time to go to the youth center, so she went in to the kitchen and put on a pot of coffee and thought about what a big guy like Luis would want for breakfast. She decided to wait because she didn't want to get into another fight and start the day off badly. When the coffee was ready she poured two cups and walked in to the parlor. Luis was still asleep with the covers wrapped around one of his legs, the pillow clutched tightly in one arm, and his head at what looked to be a painful position. She approached cautiously and said his name softly.
"Mmmmmm, yes Sheridan?" Luis said seductively while half asleep. "It's time to get up, we have things to do." Sheridan said trying not to laugh. 'I hope I don't talk like that in my sleep.' Sheridan thought. Luis shifted on the couch and reached up and grabbed Sheridan and pulled her down on him. 'It's a good thing I set the coffee down first.' "Luis let go. It's time to get up." His response was to hold her tighter. 'Well I am still tired, and Luis feels so good.' That was the last thing Sheridan thought of before she drifted off to sleep again. Luis woke up and found Sheridan lying on top of him. He had his arms around her tightly and he didn't want to let her go. "Sheridan. Sheridan wake up."
Sheridan heard someone calling her name and felt strong arms around her. She opened her eyes and looked up at him and smiled, "You stayed. Thank you."
Luis laughed. "No problem. But what are you doing on top of me." Sheridan pushed up off his chest and sat up. "You pulled me down on top of you when I tried to wake you up."
Luis looked baffled. "I'm sorry. I don't even remember it. I must have still been asleep. Sorry if I embarrassed you." He sat up and saw that he was just in his boxers and pulled the blanket around him. "It's ok, I actually slept better near you." Sheridan said shyly.
Luis rubbed his eyes and yawned, "What time is it anyway?" "It's about 9:00am."
"Oh my god! I haven't slept this late in years! We have to be at the youth center in two hours."
"I know. Who gets first shower?"
Luis thought for a moment and came up with an idea, "Why don't you go first and while your in there I will make you a wonderful breakfast." Sheridan was touched, "Thanks Luis. Do you need any help finding things?"
"No I'll make do. Gone on now." Sheridan walked to her bedroom and into her ajoining bath. She turned the shower on hot and stepped in. She tried to think of all the things she had to do that day, but her thoughts kept returning to Luis. 'He makes me feel so special and wonderful.' What was she saying! She can't stand Luis. He was constantly arguing with her and treating her like an idiot. 'But he's shown me a different side of him now.' She turned the shower off and wrapped a big towel around herself. 'Now what to wear. Something practical, but sexy. What would Luis think was sexy?' She finially decided on flare leg jeans and a tight red shirt. 'I can work in these and still feel hot!' She did her hair and makeup and started to smell something wonderful from the kitchen. Luis was in the kitchen wearing only his patrol pants. He had made the fluffiest scrambled eggs Sheridan had ever seen and the best biscuits. He handed her a coffe fixed just the way she liked it.
'Every morning should be like this one.' Luis thought.

Chapter 4

'Every morning should be like this one.' Luis thought. Sheridan and Luis finished their breakfast in peace, while talking small talk about the town and his familiy. "Well I better get in the shower now so we can get to the youth center early and set things up."
Sheridan got up and walked into the parlor, "Ok Luis. The towels are under the sink and everything else should be in there." Luis picked up the rest of his uniform and walked into the bathroom. The hot water did him wonders. He reached up for the shampoo and realized it was some girlie kind. It smelled just like her. 'Great! Now I have to walk around smelling like a damn flower garden. I'll never get her out of my mind.'
He stepped out of the shower and put on his uniform. He found Sheridan in the kitchen cleaning up their breakfast. "Hey Sheridan, I need you to run by my house so I can get some clothes and bath stuff."
"Ok. That's no problem. What's wrong with my shampoo?" Luis smiled and said, "Come here and I'll show you." Sheridan walked caustiously up to him and said, "Ok what is it?"
Luis grabbed her and pulled her to him. Their lips were inches apart. "Smell me." Sheridan frowned, "What did you just say?"
Luis laughed, "I said smell me." He let her go and smiled, "I smell like a damn flower garden. I need my own soap. Manly soap."
Sheridan burst out laughing, "Manly soap? No one is going to be able to tell the difference."
They got into her car in the garage and Luis hid in the back seat. She drove to his house. There was no danger of the stalker seeing him so he walked into the front door. No one was home, so Sheridan waited in the front room and looked at the pictures on the wall. There was one of Luis and his father. It was so sad, Sheridan almost started crying. His family had been through so much.
Luis was in his room changing clothes. After he was finished he yelled to Sheridan, "You can come in here if you want. I'm decent now." Sheridan walked into Luis's room, it suited him. Deep colors and wood furniture.
"I'm almost done." Luis told her. He put his bags on the bed and checked to make sure he had everything. He did. Then he picked up his things from the dresser and put them in his pocket.
"Did you just put a bullet in your pocket? Who are you Barney Fife?"
Luis laughed, "No, it's my lucky bullet."
Sheridan eyed him, "Well, does your bullet have a story?"
"I was on the beat my rookie year, and I saw a guy who had locked his keys in his car while it was running. What I didn't know, was that the guy had just robbed a liquor store a couple blocks away. Well, when I went up to help him, he was concentrating so hard he didn't see me until I was right up on him. He turned and shot at me point blank range. But, it didn't go off.
It didn't fire, this bullet right here."
Sheridan couldn't believe what he was saying, "So what did you do?"
"Took the gun away from him and beat the shit out of him." Sheridan and Luis both laughed. "Later I had forensics test the bullet. Nothing was wrong with it. It should have fired and I should be dead."
"Wow, Luis. I never knew. I guess that really is your lucky bullet."
"Yeah, well anyway we need to get going."
They took off to the youth center. When Luis was working with a small boy about basketball, he leaned down to talk to him. The little boy wrinkled his nose, "You smell like a girl." Sheridan heard the boy say it and burst out laughing. Luis just stood there trying not to laugh too. They worked side by side all day without another incident. Luis kept an eye out for the man who was harrassing Sheridan, but there were no signs.
That night they went back to Sheridan's cottage and Luis tried to stay hidden. He camped out in her bedroom, which had the best view, and watched for the stalker. Sheridan kept him company and brought him coffee. Around 2 am Luis noticed someone creeping around the house. He looked over at Sheridan, but she was asleep. He woke her up anyway, because he wanted her to be aware of what was going on. "Sheridan wake up. The stalker is outside and I need you to lock your self in the bathroom and don't come out until you hear my voice."
"Luis? Is everything going to be alright?"
"It's going to be just fine."
"Here. Take this." Luis handed her his lucky bullet.
Sheridan did as she was told and Luis put his plan into action. He went out the back door and crept up behind the stalker. He cocked his gun and the man froze, "Oh. I see you know what that sound is. Unless you want to hear an even bigger sound, I suggest you turn around."
The man turned around with his hands up. Luis had never seen him before in his life. He put him under arrest and called the station to come and pick him up. When they did he went into the house and got Sheridan. "Sheridan, you can come out now." She unlocked the door and peeked out. When she saw him she ran into his arms. "Luis! I'm so glad your alright. I was scared something happened to you."
"It's ok. Nothings going to happen to me." Just then Luis looked down at her and she looked at him. They leaned in and kissed. They kissed as if it was the last time they would ever kiss. Sheridan wrapped her arms around his neck and said, "Make love to me, Luis." Luis looked into her eyes and knew it was time. He picked her up and carried to her bed. The next morning Luis woke before Sheridan. He watched her sleep and he had never felt more love for her than he did right then. After they had both gotten ready, they headed for the station. Sheridan poistively ID'd the man's voice. Sam ran his fingerprints and it turned out that the man was an escaped homicidal maniac. He had escaped a mental hospital 2 weeks before.
Sheridan was lucky to be alive.
That night Sheridan and Luis were sitting on her couch talking. "I almost forgot. Here." Sheridan handed him his bullet.
"You keep it."
"These things aren't always going to happen to us are they, Luis?"
"I don't know Sheridan. But I do know that I love you and I will always protect you."
"I love you too, Luis."
AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER...
