Chapter 1: Fixing Things

Temperance watched as her new nieghbors moved in next door. "Kay! Kay, get in here!!" she yelled into the house. Kay ran into the room, breathless. "What's up?" she panted, looking at her sister. Temperance laughed, "We have some new nieghbors. Go check them out. Now!" she demanded. Kay glared at her, then walked out of the house.

Theresa watched as Kay Standish walked across her yard. "Didn't take as long as I thought." she said, to herself. Theresa forced a smile, and walked over to meet Kay. "Hello, I'm Theresa Winthrop." she said, extending her hand. Kay smiled at her, "I'm Kay Standish. I live right next door. I didn't know anyone was moving in over here. I still can't believe that Tabitha Lenox died. It's going to be wierd having new people living here." Kay said, staring at the house.

"Are you living in that house by yourself?" Kay asked. Theresa shook her head, "No I'm married. Didn't you use to go to Harmony High?" Theresa asked. Kay nodded, "Yes. How did you know that?" she asked. "My brother Miguel used to have this huge crush on you. He talked about you all the time." Theresa replied. Kay was shocked. Theresa was Miguel's older sister? Damn it was a small world. "I haven't seen Miguel in awhile. What has he been up to?" Kay asked.

"He's been working up in Castleton. He still lives here though. I bet he'll be surprised to learn you live right next door to me and Ethan. Well I have to go. Maybe I'll see you and your sister some other time." Theresa said turning around to walk into the house. Kay stopped her, "Theresa? How did you know that I live with my sister?" she asked. Theresa realized what a mistake she had made. She quickly scrambled for an explaination. "Miguel told me that you live with your sister, Temperance. I'll have to remeber to give him and Charity a call." she said, dismissing the whole issue.

"Miguel is going out with Charity Hotchkiss now?" Kay asked, disappointed. Theresa nodded, "Yeah for about four months. But strictly between you and me. I don't care for her. She's annoying. Well see you around Kay." Theresa said, waving, then walking into the house, closing the back door behind her.

With her shoulders slumped, and head hanging low, Kay walked back into her own house, slamming the door. Temperance immedately rushed over to her sister, "So? What did she have to say?" she asked, impatiently. "Only that the man of my dreams has a new girlfriend. I hate my life." Kay said, walking past her sister. Temperance grabbed her arm, "Kay! Wait a minute! Don't take that tone with me! I want to know what's going on over there, and you need to tell me!" she demanded.

"Fine! Theresa and Ethan Winthrop moved in over there. She's Miguel's older sister! There are you happy now?" Kay hissed, staring at her sister. Temperance slapped Kay's face, hard. "Don't you talk to me that way! I won't have it! Just because Mother and Father died, doesn't mean that you can speak to me like that! Now go upstairs, and practice your magic! I don't have the time nor patientence to deal with you right now! Go!" Temperance yelled.

Kay stormed up the stairs, and into her room, slamming the door closed. Temperance sighed, and sunk down on the couch.

Theresa heard the commotion next door and laughed. 'Those two are in for the surprise of thier lives. I can't wait to see thier faces when, they find out who I am.' she thought. Ethan walked up behind his wife and wrapped his arms around her waist, "Hi Honey. What are you looking at?" he asked, snuggling Theresa in his arms. "Nothing honey. Did you call Luis and Sheridan to tell them that we are here?" she asked. Ethan sighed, "No. I thought that we could at least have the day.....and night to ourselves, without our families barging in here. What do you say, we wait til tomorrow?" Ethan pleaded.

Theresa laughed, "Fine. We'll call them tomorrow! Now go get us some pizza or something! I'm starved, and we haven't gone grocery shopping yet." she said, pointing to the front door. Ethan laughed, then saluted her, "Yes ma'am! Right away!" he joked. He leaned over and kissed her face, then marched out the front door. Theresa smiled at his retreating figure, then went back to putting the kitchen in order.

Temperance watched from afar, as Luis and Sheridan walked along the beach, hand in hand. 'I think that I love that man. And there he goes wasting himself on some little floozy! I don't give a damn if you are my aunt, Sheridan. I want your husband, and I'm going to get him' she thought. Temperance walked down the beach, and sat down in the sand, watching the two people walk away from her.

"Something wrong?" a voice asked, from behind her. Temperance whipped around, and looked up at a complete stranger. "Who the hell are you?" she hissed. The guy smiled at her, "I'll be whoever you want me to be, you sexy thing." he said, sitting down next to her. Temperance smiled at him, "Oh is that so? Well what if I want you to be, a slimy flip flopping fish? Like this!" she said, pointing at him. The guy didn't have a chance to even comprehend what she had said. With a flash, the man was a slimy catfish, flopping in the sand.

Temperance laughed, stood up and walked away.

Theresa watched Temperance walk away. She had seen what Temperance had done to the man that had approached her. Theresa ran over to the fish, and turned him back into a man. He was sleeping. She hurried away. 'Why do I have the feeling that I'm going to be chasing her all over Harmony? Fixing everything!' she thought, letting out a small groan.
