Another Year Of Excellence

IMS LITERARY GALA

Semester Spring 2003

Introduction

The New Year meant new ideas and new events thus a new name for the society was proposed. Known in the past as the PAK AIMS Debating Society was transformed into IMS Literary Society & the semester Spring 2003 was titled IMS LITERARY GALA in which three events were organized. These events were as follow.

With the start of the New Year a newer yet experienced Executive body was selected to organize the proposed events.

Intercollegiate Bilingual Declamation Contest

March 15,2003

Venue: College Auditorium Main Campus  

For a mega event such as an Intercollegiate Bilingual Declamation Contest invitations were sent to 18 elite institutions from Lahore & an amazing turn up was witnessed. A total number 14 Colleges & Universities competed in an event that made the college auditorium jam-packed with audience. Ex-Minister For Law and Senator Mr. Khalid Ranjha & Member Board Of Governors Mr. Malik Pervaiz were the chief guest at the occasion .The Prize on stake was the IMS Literary Trophy 2003 which was won by students from Kinniard College. Two speakers represented each Institution. One to speak in Urdu and the other in English. The choice of the Language was left to the team members. One Speaker from each team was required to speak on a serious topic and the other on humorous one. The topics of the competition were highly appreciated by all the participants.

The IMS Quiz Trophy Competition

Venue: Room Number 2 - Main Campus  

The IMS Quiz Trophy Competition by now had become a very important and prestigious competition in which four top students from each program participate to fight for the IMS Quiz Trophy. The IMS Quiz trophy is a running trophy and was earlier won by the MBA team.  

Team MBA, BBA, BCS, MCS all fought hard but in the final round the battle was between team BCS and MCS. Team MCS lifted the trophy from a very narrow margin of 5 Points. The most significant change in the pattern of this competition was the addition of the Visuals Round in which videos were shown to the participants on the multimedia system

Venue: Room Number 2 - Main Campus  

IMS Urdu Poetry (Bait-Bazi) Competition was the last event of The IMS Literary Gala 8 teams took part in the event and was finally won by a team of students of the program MBA. Dean A.Z. Memon was the chief guest at the occasion and distributed the prizes and certificates amongst the winners. He appreciated the services of IMS Literary Society regarding the promotion of co-curricular activities in Pak-AIMS.
