Maluku Now Fully Back to Normal, Says Governor
Ambon (ANTARA) - Maluku province has fully returned to normal and its people can
no longer be provoked to get involved in communal conflict, a spokesman said.
"Maluku has fully returned to normalcy and I believe its people can no longer be
provoked but there are many things to do," Karel Albert Kralahalu, the Maluku
province, said after attending a Nuzulul Quran (Revelation of the Koran) celebration
which was also attended by Religious Affairs Minister Maftuh Basuni at the Al Fattah
mosque here on Saturday.
The governor said after being wracked by communcal conflict for four years since
2001, the situation in Maluku was now condusive.
"The community`s life has returned to normal, the economic sector is developing and
reconstruction of houses of worship. administration offices and other facilities are still
underway," he said.
Meanwhile, in his speech, Minister Maftuh Basyuni asked Maluku people to continue
developing the social relations concept of "Pela Gandong" that had existed in the
province for a long time.
"It depends on our will whether or not Pela Gandong is still able to build harmony," he
