Joseph Furze - first
began farming on a '25 acre"garden plot" on which he built a house a mile
from his father's land at 'Burra Murra" where he had a steam
driven mill. [Luarie Hocking]
Joseph at some time
owned a farm at Yielma adjacent to those of his brothers "Harry"
and Frank. This had to be sold to settle a guarantee he gave on his brother

sister Maggie in Melbourne.
At the age of 50 Joseph Godfrey
Furze bought 8,000 acres of virgin land in New England area

by the Vicary family and 40 miles from Walcha. When they moved up there
Elizabeth took her paints, books and piano and their 3 youngest children.
After The First World

sold the land. He died there 1928 and Elizabeth went to live with her daughter
