Oh joy.
The Slytherin pulled himself into the shower and stood under the freezing water..it had to be when Harry was snuggled up to you all night.
After hurriedly washing, and putting on his clothes Draco went to the mirror ready to slick back his hair as usual. In the past few days Harry had run his fingers through it so much that Draco hadn't even bothered gelling it, but now he had to put on the appearance of Draco Malfoy, biggest Slytherin git in the world.
Draco finished his hair and went back to Harry's room. He smiled to see the Gryffindor still asleep. He smiled softly Lazy. After placing a kiss on the scarred forehead the Head Boy left the room and made his way down to the Great Hall ready for breakfast.
Harry cracked his eyes open a little to find himself alone and sighed. Today was Monday. Time to put his acting skills to the test.
Forcefully pushing himself out of bed he proceeded to get ready for the school day. He then left the room to meet Ron and Hermione in the entrance hall. They both smiled when he approached.
"Hey mate, how's the drama queen treating you."
Ok, despite the fact that he and Draco were now dating, 'Drama Queen' wasn't far off, but then he couldn't really say much. He smiled and lightly chuckled with his two friends.
"Oh leave him be Ron, by the sounds of Harry Draco hasn't been too insufferable."
Harry and Hermione's eyes met. The night Harry had confessed his sexuality to her, he had then told her _what_ had helped him discover it. She'd been shocked none the less, maybe a little quiet but when Harry explained everything to her, how Draco _Really_ was she had smiled, a true smile, and said if he made him happy then he couldn't be that bad. Harry also informed her of the 'act' they'd both agreed on, and she too agreed to play along.
Ron was still in the blue, despite Hermione telling Harry he should tell Ron. Harry had shaken his head vigorously knowing he wasn't ready for it to be like the fourth year all over again. That had been painful.
"Yeah well, if he upsets you Harry then I'll knock him for six." Harry smiled gratefully at Ron and nodded.
They all walked into the dining hall and Harry had to resist turning his head in Draco's direction. He walked on towards the Gryffindor table, replying when his classmates and friends greeted him and settled himself in.
Huh that wasn't too bad. Hermione, who was sat next to him, took his hand and gave it a supportive squeeze which Harry returned. God he loved having her as a friend.
Draco was very gratefull for his spot at the Slytherin table, from where he was he could look directly ahead, without looking suspicious, and see Harry. The Slytherin scowled outwardly as The Boy Who Lived sat down laughing and talking with his friends.
On the inside, however, he was smiling and wishing he could be with Harry minus the other Gryffindors. Draco made sure to keep to his food, and when Blaise Zambini yelled out "Hey Pot-Head!" to the Gryffindor table he made sure to sneer along with the rest. But inside he was boiling and knew that if he didn't have to put on a show Blaise would have already received a bust lip for that.
The Head Boy looked to Harry who took the insult in stride he kept eating, but looked over at Blaise and smile, "Thank you Blaise!" The Slytherins just sneered and went back to their breakfast, all the while their leader ( Draco) was silently applauding his boyfriend.
Harry rolled his eyes. Pothead? He was sincerely thinking about changing his surname, how many words could you make out of Potter...He'd ask Draco later, he'd probably made a ton over the years.
Harry smiled at this. Now that he looked back at it Draco had always been there, granted to tease him, but he just seemed to do anything to get Harry's attention.
"Harry?"
Harry shook his head out of his stupor and turned to Hermione.
"Yeah?"
"You ok? I mean, Slytherins making jokes, you and Dra....your squeeze."
Harry laughed.
"Yeah Blaise is nothing, he's a low grade slytherin....It's when, or if, the ...ahem... Other Slytherin makes jabs that I think it'll get difficult."
Hermione smiled and did a kind of mocking granny pinch on Harry's cheek, "Who's my brave little lion?"
They stared at each other then started laughing, Harry looking out of the corner of his eye at Draco. Goddess all he wanted to do was give him a smile.
"HEY, Harry."
Lavender Brown dropped herself unceremoniously into Harry's lap and put her arms around his neck.
"Hey what are you doing next Hogsmede trip?"
Harry panicked and looked at the Slytherin table. Please. PLEASE, don't let him get jealous.
But before he could answer Hermione jumped in.
"He's helping me buy my next book collection and you know me, it'll be a lot of books, so I'll need Harry to help....or you know, the front line of the SAS."
Harry laughed loudly but Lavender seemed a little confused and pulled herself out of Harry's lap, scowling at Hermione who simply smiled innocently and waved slightly.
"You know what 'Mione? I reckon Draco's really gonna like you...probably helps you both have a fetish for books."
Draco hadn't missed the way Lavender and placed herself in Harry's lap, nor had he missed the way his chest tightened. He almost smiled when the Gryffindor quickly glanced at him as if to apologize.
The Slytherin knew that Harry was sorry, but he wondered at what Harry felt. The Gryffindor had told him that he would have loved Draco if he had come to him in the form of a female; so did that mean that Harry would still look?
He didn't think so, but that would be something to discuss with him. As Lavender came back with her stuff to sit by Harry he growled softly, definitely something to discuss.
Draco had long since finished his breakfast and rose from the table. Grabbe and Goyle were stilling pigging out but Blaise Zambini rose too, and walked with him to the entrance of the Great Hall.
The Slytherin Head Boy, knew what a site the two made as they walked between the tables in the Great Hall. Both tall, slim, well muscled, had both had fair hair with steel blue eyes. Yes the two were quite a pair ( they _were_ the most sought after boys in the school ), but Draco would rather have a certain black-haired, green eyed Gryffindor with him and he hoped that Harry knew that.
When Lavender sat next to him Harry gave a theatrical sigh and placed his head in his hands. Hermione smirked and patted his knee sympathetically. Then she turned to Lavender.
"Love to stay and chat but we have to leave for Advanced Trans. See ya." She said in a mockingly girlie voice. Harry laughed silently and rose with her.
He didn't miss Draco and Blaise leaving, and a pang hit his heart. He knew Draco liked him but Blaise was...handsome. He was the poster boy of the tall chisled male where as Harry could described to be feminine rather than manly, what with his body shape and movements. Blaise walked with pride but all Harry had going was grace from years of being a seeker. Well, thats all he saw of himself anyway.
He, Hermione and Ron left as the infamous trio out of the Hall and onto the first lesson of the day. Harry just hoped Draco wouldn't take the Lavender thing the wrong way. He knew that no matter how many people threw themselves at him, whether they were gorgeous or not, Harry only had eyes for one guy.
Is he in Advanced Transfiguration?...Wouldn't surprise me he's smart. he thought wistfully.
Trapsing round the corridor they arrived to the class and there Draco and Blaise were leaning casually against the wall. Harry fought the pang again. They're just friends, they're just friends, good keep telling youself that, they're just friends...
If Harry could have known Draco's thoughts at the moment he would have laughed. Blaise had pulled Draco to the side and was babbling on about something, Draco had a hard time concentrating his mind was still on the small scene he had seen in the Great Hall.
It became even more difficult to concentrate when Harry and his friends walked into the classroom. Draco didn't miss the calm grace with which Harry moved, almost sighing out loud the Slytherin turned his attention back to Blaise.
"So will you?"
Draco fought to keep his face from looking bewildered, "Er, yeah."
Blaise smiled, and walked into the Trans room, a confused Draco following behind.
What in the heck did I just agree to?
Mentally groaning he took his seat beside of Blaise and waited for McGonagal to start droning on and on and on, about the properties of this, and the nucleas of that. Draco looked over at Harry and frowned, the Gryffindor seemed to be mad or angry about something but he wouldn't look Draco's way so the Slytherin had no way of finding out until they were safely back in the Tower.
What the hell did Draco just agree too!?
Harry's scowl deepened, it was getting harder and harder to fight his jealousy. He was just not confident enough to comprehend that anyone found him more attractive than Zambini. After all he was a skinny balck haired boy who wore glasses and had an ugly scar on his head. The only thing he liked was his green eyes.
When he was simply flirting with 'his dragon' he'd felt gorgeous but being away from him was making the feeling slip away.
........Zambini......you suck. First you call me pot-head and then you get _MY_boyfriend's attention. Harry sighed then tried to concentrate on the work at hand.
The bell rang and Harry went about his other lessons in the same solemn, mechanic way until he was finally allowed to return to his room.
Saying bye to his friends he marched up to his room and sat on his bed indian style and pulled out a book, scowling at it like it had insulted him. When Draco came in to the HeadBoy's common room he immediately went up to Harry's room, he stopped dead when he saw his boyfriend reading, and scowling down at the book.
"Better watch out, your face my freeze that way." He teased gently. When Harry didn't respond Draco sat down on the bed and warmed his arms around him, whispering in his ear, "What's wrong?"
Harry put the book down when he felt Draco's arms round him and the intimate whisper reached his ears. He suddenly felt foolish at his girlish like jealously and placed his hands on top of the ones round his waist. But he still couldn't fight the feeling of bitterness towards Blaise.
"What were you talking about with Zambini?" Harry asked as casually as he could muster, stroking the Draco's hands so that it would seem like an idle throw-away question.
He felt Draco sigh and he leant back, Harry stiffening automatically as he was tilted with him. He forced himself to relax again and turned ever so slightly to rest his head beneath the Slytherin's chin.
He toyed with Draco's collar nervously whilst he waited for Draco's reply.
When Harry had asked about Blaise it had surprised him, Blaise would never be the beauty that the Gryffindor was.
“You know, I am not even sure what I agreed to; I was to busy watching a trio of Gryffindors enter the classroom.” He grinned and kissed Harry on the forehead. He ran his finger gently over his boyfriend’s scar, “Have I ever told you that you are my flame?” Draco winked at Harry and grinned.
Harry couldn't resist and smiled, almost purring when Draco's fingers traced his scar.
"No, not recently, but I'll let it slide." He began to lightly chuckle.
"What if you agreed to be his bitch or something." It felt good that he had said that like a joke... and meant it.
He turned to face Draco but burst out laughing at the look of horror on his boyfriend's face. Then he rectified the moment by placing his lips on Draco’s.
Still kissing him he turned so that he was straddled on his lap and so that Draco's arms were still around his waist.
I think I'm falling in love.
Draco moaned softly into his boyfriend’s mouth and moved one hand up to run through the Gryffindor’s hair (something that Draco loved). The Slytherin broke the kiss and rose up to nibble gentle on Harry’s neck, before letting his tongue sooth the reddened skin.
Harry leant his head back to grant better access. He closed his eyes blissfully. He'd missed this all day.
He ran his hands up and down soothingly on Draco's back and snuggled closer.
"I'm sorry I doubted you." He blurted out suddenly causing Draco to look up at him, "I get silly like that, sorry."
He smiled apologetically then he returned the favor of nipping Draco's neck.
This time Draco tilted his head so that Harry could continue, but he frowned instead, “Harry, don’t ever think that your worries are silly. I am not used to be with just one person, and so I may flirt with other guys, but not on purpose." The Slytherin sighed feeling that he wasn’t making sense, and it was getting hard to make sense with a certain Gryffindor nibbling on his neck, “Harry…am I making sense?” He mumbled as Harry found a really good spot to nibble on.
Harry hummed slightly on his new found zone of Draco's skin then pulled back. The comment of the flirting unsettled him a little, but something told him to trust Draco.
"Sort of, not entirely but I'll try to understand. I apologize in advance though if random guys have things thrown at them, I kind of have a severe case of letting my emotions get the best of me."
He leant down to kiss the blonde's lips, emphasizing his trust. Then he rested his forehead against his boyfriends.
"A swift uppercut to the back of the head and a 'Behave' usually works though, or at least for Hermione it does." He smirked, remembering the countless times Hermione had played the mother hen and kept him in line. Draco looked a little unconvinced.
"You shouldn't frown like that, you'll get wrinkles." He stroked the area between Draco's eyebrows and let his gaze rest on the silver orbs before him.
Draco smiled and stared into the green depths above him. He wrapped his arms around Harry protectively and finally realized this was going to be harder than he thought.
Tomorrow is potions …
“Harry, I hate putting a damper on things, it seems I always do, but tomorrow is potions and I want you to be ready. I’ll have to be my snarky self, and you’ll will have to be your normal Gryffindor self.” Draco placed his lips softly on Harry’s letting him know that no matter what was said, things would still be the same in the Tower.
Harry returned the kiss and then pulled back.
"Yeah I know," He sighed, " Do you think it'll seem odd if I poked Snape harshly in the eye?" Harry was making pointed finger motions to emphasize his point.
Draco chuckled again but the look on his face grew serious again.
"Harry seriously." Harry sighed again.
"I know, I know. I'll do what I do and you do what you do. I've put up with it before. Besides," He smiled again," I have Hermione for me again. She got into Advanced Potions too. Ron wasn't so lucky. Nice kid, not too bright. But I love him all the same."
Draco looked like he was about to protest and it took Harry a minute to think why. A shocked look sprung to his face.
"Oh. Ew. Draco! Ron's my bestfriend, I wouldn't do anything like that, yuck." Harry feigned shivers. Ron was brilliant but he was his best friend, and ONLY his best friend.
The Slytherin laughed, and he didn’t stop there. Draco was having fits of silent laughter over the look on Harry’s face, and now tears were coursing from his eyes.
“I can just see Weasely now.” The blonde had to stop again for more laughter. Then he took on a voice very similar to Ron’s, “But Harree what’ do ya do with it?” Draco again went into silent fits of laughter, and didn’t even notice when Harry rolled off him.
For a few minutes the Slytherin just lay there, and wiped tears, but he frowned when he noticed his boyfriend sitting rigid beside him.
Something I said? Finally he stops laughing. Harry crossed his arms, only to quickly un-cross them because he felt to Patil-like.
He felt Draco move up and place his hand on Harry's shoulder. Harry tensed even more so.
"Love?" Draco whispered. Harry sighed and with a defiant look upon his face turned towards Draco.
"I may not have the hots for him but he's still my friend."
There was more to it then that but he wasn't about to tell Draco. He wasn't going to tell him about the countless times he'd heard Draco use a similar mockery on Harry himself, and the times he'd teased Hermione who had so readily supported Harry through his decision after putting up with the most of it.
"I'm sorry." With those two words Draco left the room, and left the tower. He had to go. He was tired of watching his words around Harry and needed to be with his friends.
He quickly made his way down to the Slytherin Common Room, when he stepped inside he was greeted by a loud burst of noise.
"Throwing a party without me?" he drawled.
Blaise smiled and came over with a bottle of whiskey, "No, we knew the whiskey would call to you."
Draco laughed and took the bottle from Blaise. He knew that when he was drunk many things could happen, but at the moment he just wanted to be a Slytherin. He put the bottle to his lips and drank deeply.
~*~
Harry, after accidentally blowing up a lamp in his frustration, had settled for attempting to take his mind of things. He read numerous books, none working to distract him and took for staring out of the window instead.
He gazed at the dog star Sirius with a clenching in his heart. Round Draco he was fine, but the reality of the situation was that he still mourned his godfather and Brother of sorts. He knew he was hard to get along with, that he wasn't as 'normal' as others may like, but he just wanted the close people in his life that still lived to get along.
Is that so bad?"........maybe I'm too difficult. Faults of his began to spring up all over his mind and it was beginning to hurt.
I'll apologize to Draco, but I'll have to wait till he gets back, I don't know where he went.
An image of a blonde haired young man jumped into his mind, and he fought back any jealous thoughts of Blaise. Draco loved him, he wouldn't hurt him..... would he?
I mean, Ron did in forth year and he's my best friend so even your most loved ones hurt you now and again.
Harry worried his bottom lip before abruptly getting up and marching to bed.
That’s it, I'm going to bed, I'll just work my self up staying awake.
Curled up in the blankets he faced the window and watched the star one last time.
"Goodnight big brother." He whispered.
