Mechanical Bride was a short-lived musical event that took nearly 20 years of experience and musical friendships to blend with the search for alternatives that was happening in the early 80's
The original members had been playing together since the mid 60's - in one form or another.
Mechannical Bride had no particular connection with the trends, as much as a strong desire to incorporate the sounds and styles of an older generation with the new opportunities a new generation was making.
Mechanical Bride at CBGB's
Neither Hardcore, Punk, Rock, or Folk by description, Mechanical Bride was an experiment in timeless-ness and example. The band was welcome by members of all cultures and tribes. Because of their commitment to EARWAX Fanzine and their friendships with many of the local "Punk" bands, Mechanical Bride played bills with a lot of NJ's best Punk/HC acts; The Burnt, A.O.D., Fatal Rage, etc.. And a few of the M.B. tunes stuck on as classics in that era. Songs like "29 Grande", "The Posse", and "The Future Is Green" are good examples of styles/generations that worked well together.
This and the following page is meant to be a quick look at Mechanical Bride, our friends, and some of the events that made this a great time to be in a band. Please go to the next page.
