| BRUCE WINGATE |
| If you're not familiar, Bruce is one of the founding members of the infamous NJ Punk band ADRENALIN O.D., one of the hottest Punk/Rock guitarists that has ever ripped these ears, and one of the most colorfull characters in our local scene's history. Although this page is in no way meant to be a history...I just wanted to share some of the "Bruce" related materials & facts out of interest, and salute one of my favorite characters. |
| A.O.D. formed in 1981 from the remains of the EAST PATERSON BOYS CHOIR. The friendship with the founders of BUY OUR RECORDS - the bands: BEDLAM and MY THREE SONS - led to several spin-off bands in the early-to-mid 80's in which Bruce contributed guitar and vocals. Some of these bands were: THE FARTHEADS, THE SOPHISTICATOS, FAKE RAY MILLAND HEAD, ADRENALIN OVERDUMB, and DEATHRAGE. Most of these bands were drunkin, pot smokin fun bands...but that's the point! |
| For a while there, Bruce edited his own fanzine called T.V. MISGUIDE which spotlighted the best of "cool" TV (a trademark of the A.O.D. crew) from "Who's The Boss"...to ""Barney Miller". He also contributed pages and articles to many local fanzines...simply called "Bruce". |
| Bruce (and the entire A.O.D./Buy Our Records crew) were always big supporters of Earwax Fanzine and played many of the Earwax Bar-B-Q shows at the House Of Wax. In fact...any party (especially a Bar-B-Q) was prime territory to let loose and do what they did best: good Party Punk with a great sense of humor and a keen witt for the obvious. |
| After A.O.D., Bruce had several projects/bands with now-rare releases: the SHYSTER SHYSTER and FLYWHEEL "Sir Pretty Ass" cassette is one good catch, but if you're lucky...the BRUCE WAYNE (and Joel) cassette is one of those rare Punk treasures that ya gotta look for. It cranks! Period. |
| Saxon Sound & OneUp has a good deal of the lost "Bruce" material onhand, and will be releasing a CD in the near future. Definately worth a listen. Please inquire. |
| I havn't seen Bruce in a while now...I missed the infamous A.O.D. reunion tour. But I recently found this picture....hmmmm....what do you think? |
