The Cat
Egyptian cats were particulary jovial felins, associated with Bast, the fertility goddess who had a cat's head. She gave the mankind the great gift of happiness and warmth of the sun.
Egyptians paid tribute to her by worshiping cats. Whenever a cat died, he or she wasburied with much ceremony in a huge cat cemetery at Bubastis. As cats were brought to Europe they were not worshiped. They became indifferent and aware of matters no generally revealed to mankind.  They became friends with witches, warlocks, and wizards. Feline agility and sense of balance enabled them to travel on witches broomsticks. A contend cat usually attract good fortune to its host.
