Harry Potter's news on books

News on books

On July 8th 2000, the long awaited part 4 was released. With 752 pages the largest volume yet, but also the one with the shortest production time (she wrote it in 8 months instead of the usual 12). The first US-printing ran 3.8 million copies and sold 3 million on its first 2 days. A second 3 million was added a week later. It also had a record number of advance orders at Amazon.com, and it beat Delia Smith's cook book in Britain as best sold book in an opening weekend.

In October 2000, Joanne Rowling announced the title for the fifth installment: Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix. The phoenix as we know, is not only a valuable pet of Albus Dumbledore, but also one of the things that connects Harry with Lord Voldemort.

On the stroke of midnight June 21st 2003 part 5 was sold all around the world. With 766 pages it was even larger than part 4. The long production time was due to the fact that Rowling worked herself crazy to get the previous installment ready for the deadline, so she asked the publishers to remove any deadlines.
