Adkins , Aaron " Little Aaron" ; b. 1845 ; s/o Allen and Fanny Adkins ;married Frances Toney . CSA. PVT 129th. Regiment VA Militia (Capt. Barnett Carter's Co.). August 27,1861-. Served three days and left sick. 1st. Bat. VA Mounted Rifles (Capt. Barnett Carter's Co. ) August 26, 1862 to December 1, 1862 . 34th. VA CAV. Co. D from December 1,1862-Feb. 1,1863. He was shot three times in the leg,arm and body. He fought at Gettysburg. Tradition says he was sent out to forage for food and came back with a dead hog on his back. Aaron died in 1929

Sias , Andrew Lewis " Lew" ; b. May 28, 1842 in Mercer Co. VA ; between 1894 and 1896 in Lincoln County , WV ; s/o James William and Rebecca (Adkins) Sias ; married Martha Ellen Lambert d/o Jeremiah and  Sarah (Hedrick) Lambert. He enlisted on August 26, 1862  at  the Logan County Court  House  in  the 34th Batt'n  VA CAV , Co. D ( Capt. B. Carter's Co. 1 Batt'n Virginia Mounted Rifles )  as a PVT.  He deserted  and joined General Floyd's command..He enlisted on December 1,1862 to Feb. 1 , 1863 . He was wounded on the 3ed day of fighting at Gettysburg , PA (Pickett's Charge) and taken prisoner at Hagerstown,Maryland on July 8, 1863   Another record says he was captured at Funkstown , MD. He was transferred to Seminary Hospital, Hagerstown, Maryland in August of 1863 and later moved to General Hospital in Chester,P on abt. September 17,1863 . Andrew was transferred  to Hammond  General Hospital, Point Lookout, MD on October 4, 1863  and appears on the list at Wayside or General Hospital # 9 on March 6,1864. and at  Chimborazo Hospital # 3  in Richmond,VA on March 7, 1864 . He was furloughed on March 11,1864.

Collins, Levi ; b. 1816 ; married Mary Johnson. CSA. CAPT. 34th. Bat. VA CAV. Co. D. ; December 1861-1863 . Shot through the knee. He died in 1885
Davis , Giles Albert ; born 1843 ; s/o James and Miranda (Steele) Davis; married Ann Frances  Adkins. CSA. PVT 34th. BAT. VA CAV Company D. from September 1861 to 1864. Davis served through most of the war "Big Creek" Bill Lucas , "Little Aaron" Adkins and Gordon Lilly. He served at Gettsyburg and participated in Pickett's Charge. He recognized that the would be a failure but bravely carried out his duty. On his way back from the charge,he was so devastated by the carnage that he stopped to cry. When he removed his boots ,blood poured from them. Davis felt he survived the battle because he was so small and agile. Later, he wandered back home with one of his brothers, Kelly Steele and their mother didn't recognize them. He died in 1912

Lucas , Andrew Irvin ; born 1843 ; s/o Charles and Lucinda (Fry) Lucas ; married Susan Brumfield. CSA. Virginia State Line Brigade. 36th. VA. Inf. Co. A ; and 34th. Bat. VA CAV. Co. D from June 1861-1865. Served 3 years; died in 1907
Elkins , William ; s/o Marvel and Rhoda (Vance) Elkins ; married Emily J. McGuire ; CSA . SGT. 34th. Bat. VA CAV Co. D. William enlisted  on August 26,1862 in Logan Co.  as a 2nd. Sgt. He was with  Captain B. Carter's Co. 1 Batt'n Virginia Mounted Rifles until December 1, 1862. He then transferred to  witcher's Battalion Virginia Mounted Rifles from December 1,1862 to Feb. 1, 1863. William was captured at Cashtown,PA on July 5,1863 and admitted to U.S.A. General Hospital  in Chester, PA on July 18,1863.

He enlisted in Wayne Co. on August 26,1862 ; He later transferred and served ( December 1, 1862 to  December 1-1863) in  1st. Batt'n VA mtd. Rifles. Witcher's Batt. ;died 1910
Elkins , Miles ; s/o Harvey and Elizabeth D. (May) Elkins ; CSA. PVT. 34th. Bat. VA CAV. Co. B. According to HARDESTY'S, he  served "from the commencement until the close, and came home without a scar ."
Mullins , Spencer A. ; born 1820 ; s/o Solomon and Sarah (cathey) Mullins. ; married Lydia Evaline Adkins. CSA. 1st. Lt. 34th. Bat.VA Cav. Co. D. He died in 1874

Estep , Shadrack; born 1832 ; s/o Corbin  and Elizabeth (Davis) Estep .; married Martha Elkins . CSA. PVT. 34th. Bat. VA CAV. Co. D
Nester, Daniel  " Bill" ; born 1831 s/o Daniel and Elizabeth (Hewitt) Nester , Sr. married Valeria Brumfield. CSA. PVT. Barnett Carter's Company of the 1st. Battalion of VA Mounted Rifles from August 1862 to January 1863. He was captured while searving in the  34th. Bat. VA CAV. Co. D.  He was captured  in  March of 1864. He was also captured in January of 1863 while serving with Carter's company. He was listed as being at Atheneum Prison in  Wheeling in April of 1864. and was transferred  in the same month to Camp Chase at Columbus , Ohio. Daniel was made to work at the prison camp even though he was very ill and died of "Black Jaundice" or pneumonia on May 9,1864. He  was buried at  Camp Chase,OH in grave # 152.
Thompson, Patton ; born 1824 ; s/o William  P. and Martha "Patsy" (Wilkins) Thompson. Married 1st. Delanie Tomblin and m 2 Elizabeth (?) Mullins. CSA. PVT. 34th. Bat. VA CAV. Co. D. named a son born September of 1861 after Confederate General Albert G. Jenkins. Patton died in 1909

Workman , William ;born 1833. s/o Henry and Nancy (Dalton) Workman; married Elizabeth Maynard. CSA. PVT. 34th. Bat. VA Cav. Co. D from March 1862 to 1864.
Farley , John C. ; Enlisted on January 20,1863 in Tazwell Co.,VA  as a private in the 34th. Batt'n Cav. Co.D  ; Witcher's Battalion VA Mounted Rifles for the duration of the Civil War. He was present on February 1,1863 but was never paid.
John Farley 's military records list him as being captured  on July 2, 1863 and charged as a "Rebel Deserter". He was held as a prisoner of war at Fort Mifflin,PA until January 1, 1864.
Also listed  in his records is his place of residence ; Cabell Co. WV  and a description. He was 6 ft. 1 inches tall with a dark complexion ,dark hair, and blue eyes. He was discharged "for the purpose of working for the government  by order of General Caldwaladen"(?). He signed (by mark) his oath of Allegiance to the United States on 1/1/1864
