ALL THESE THINGS I FIND IN YOU
MY ONLY LOVER
MY BEST FRIEND!
My Darling, Never in my wildest dream's did I think a trip to the Ms. State Fair on Oct. 12, 1962 would I meet my destiny!  I think though "The Keeper Of The Star's "  did.  After all I went with a girlfriend that you wanted to see again. When you first walked up in shirt, jean's and your FFA jacket, my heart dropped!  Your eyes caught me first, those deep brown eyes with dark eyebrow's and long eyelashes, to die for!  Then your dark black hair and  when you smiled, your whole face brightened up everything!  There  I was, a goner, for another girls guy!  I think I even pinched her for acting toward you the way she did!
I was so tickled a few days later when  you called me and said you asked her for my phone number.  It was so fun talking to you!  I  have to confess I don't remember all the subjects, but I didn't care,  I was talking to you, thats all that mattered, and when you suggested that you would like to see me again, wow,  pay dirt!
Looking back, I see why some couples now, never make  it!  To get to see me, you would walk to your highway and catch a Greyhound Bus to come to town, transfer to a city bus  to come to my house to meet my family!  Well needless to say, you wowed them, and won them over!  You shortly had my two younger sister's, telling everything on me.  If I just talked to another guy, you knew about it!
We dated this way, after Mother had met you, with me meeting you in town to go to a movie until you could get your driver's license without a parent signing for you!  When you did get license, you sold your cow, you had raised from a galf, to buy a car.  You would work all day saturday, so you could take me out.
Maybe  if couples now didn't have it so easy, they could have the chance to know each other better!  I got to really know what kind of man you would become when I met your parents when we stopped by there on our way to the prom.  As I watched them inter-act with each other, I knew you were a "Keeper" so we dated until I finished school and we were married one week later, after 3 years of dating!
WHAT IS MARRIAGE
MARRIAGE IS THE UNION OF TWO PEOPLE IN LOVE
AND LOVE IS SHEER MAGIC FOR  IT'S WOVEN OF
GOSSAMER DREAMS, ENCHANTINGLY REAL
THAT PEOPLE IN LOVE ARE PRIVILEGED TO FEEL

BUT THE 'EXQUISITE ECSTASY" THAT CAPTURES THE HEART
OF TWO PEOPLE IN LOVE IS JUST A SMALL PART
OF THE BEAUTY AND WONDER AND MIRACLE OF
THE GROWTH AND FULFILLMENT AND EVOLVEMENT OF LOVE

FOR ONLY LONG YEARS OF LIVING TOGETHER
AND SHARING AND CARING IN ALL KINDS OF WEATHER
BOTH PLEASURE AND PAIN, THE GLAD THE SAD
TEARDROPS AND LAUGHTER, THE GOOD AND THE BAD

CAN ADD NEW DIMENSIONS AND LIFT LOVE ABOVE
THE RAPTUROUS ECSTASIES OF "FALLING IN LOVE"...
FOR ECSTACY PASSES BUT IT IS REPLACED
BY SOMETHING MUCH GREATER THAT CANNOT BE DEFACED

FOR WHAT WAS "IN PART" HAS  NOW "BECOME WHOLE"...
FOR ON "WINGS OF FLESH" LOVED ENTERED THE "SOUL"!

BY Helen Steiner Rice
Well our marriage has been that!  You have been my "rock" through so much of our almost 38 years as man and wife!  With all my illnesses and almost deaths, not only did you stay right there through it all, you helped others with their fears as they awaited the outcome of their loved ones!
( I know this because they told me later)
Through my fear of losing you to your stomach cancer,  it was you who helped me be strong!  You even took over your own health care of your central line, etc.  with a little help from me!  I really beleive the knowledge of not being able to give blood regularly ever again hurt you the most!
Then when we had to go through your "unfair firing" and trying to get your disability, you were the one who reminded me that "GOD doesn't close a door, without opening a window" you were right!  Our "open window" was the Ridgeland Fire Dept. hiring you as a Dispatcher!  I know of no better "role model" for our 2 children to have to build their life on!
That is why, my most constant prayer  is "May The Last Touch I Feel Be Yours Love"
Loving you Forever and a Day!
Billie
