Family Involvement for a Complete Education
Parents and families of Harvard Place students are an integral part of each child's academic experience. In the classroom, at home, and at extra-curricular activities, you are a partner in your child's progress.
P.A.L. is the parent involvement group at Harvard Place Private School. Membership is not mandatory, of course, but it is strongly encouraged. Participation in the community life of your child's school builds strong bonds that will last throughout his or her educational experience.
The one thing that every other parent-teacher group seems to miss but P.A.L. has included, is the fun you can have being involved in special projects at school. Most of the P.A.L. events are fundraisers, which helps keep your tuition as low as possible, but our volunteer parents prefer to call them fun-draisers. If an event doesn't leave those involved with a sense of accomplishment and warm camaraderie, it isn't our kind of event. All fundraising efforts are voluntary. You're encouraged to participate, but if you can't, you're still a valued member of our Harvard Place family.
Some of the more noteworthy P.A.L. events are:
"Experienced"
Uniform Sale--Gently-used
uniforms are made available to our new or returning students at
a much-reduced rate. Date and location of the sale will be announced
(same day and location as the new uniform offerings).
Earthquake
Kits--All students
are required to have earthquake kits in the school in case of a
disaster. P.A.L. takes the worry out of gathering the materials
needed and makes the kits available to students.
Engraved
Bricks--When Harvard
Place relocated to the Willows school, parents wanted to leave a
permanent mark on the new grounds to show their support. At various
areas around the campus are bricks engraved with the family's or
student's name and date. The program is ongoing and bricks are still
available.
Family Fun
Day--Early fall family
picnic with clowns, face-painting, fun, food and games.
Pumpkin
Patch--Pre-Halloween
pumpkin festival with hundreds of pumpkins perfect for jack-o-lanterns,
a bake sale, and fun. Open to the public.
Haunted House--More Addams Family than Tales from
the Crypt, but loads of fun for everyone involved. Open to
the public.
Pictures
with Santa--Santa
comes to Harvard Place.
Valentine-Grams
with Roses--Moms and
Grammas get lots of love on Valentine's Day.
Mardi Gras Costume Ball--A festival of authentic Cajun and
Louisiana food, fun and frolic for the entire family.
