Women Abuse in America*

One third of American women admit to being sexually or physically abused by a husband or a boyfriend. In 2004, women accounted for 90% of the victims of intimate partner violence and men accounted for 10% of the victims. On average more than three women are killed every day by their boyfriends or husbands. … Each year an estimated 503,485 women are stalked by an intimate partner in the United States. … Husbands and boyfriends commit 13,000 acts of violence against women in the workplace each year.

All statistics mentioned above are based on the cases that were reported. Reports say that less than half come out with their ordeal mostly with the fear of being victimized even more by the same people.

* Islam commands its followers to treat women kindly. Qur’an says,

Live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If you take a dislike to them, it may be that you dislike a thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good. (An-Nisa 4: 19)
