Homily Points
10th Sunday A
General.
Sin has always existed after the Eden event and will still exist thereafter until man keeps on indulging in it. Yet man’s hope lies in the redemption which Jesus Christ has brought about in such manner that we know that God is always ready to accept us back within the fold through the merits of the Blood which His Son has shed for us.Hosea.
The Word forms the prophet who in turn instils hope and fear of the Lord in his listeners. The Word radiates like light leading the way for believers. God requests goodness out of our lives, not meaningless sacrifices which only point towards the fulfilment of ritual. Word means action, towards the needy and in the betterment of our own lives.Romans.
St Paul preaches hope and faith as the pillars on which Abraham based his life and on which each Christian should now dwell to achieve perfect Christian life. The death and resurrection of Jesus are the only hope and faith we should abide in, since these have not only obtained justification for Jesus in having accomplished the mission which the Father had sent him to accomplish, but also in us who are now justified by our very belief in them.St Matthew.
Seeing is believing and since Matthew had seen, he also believed. For this reason, where Jesus sees faith, he calls upon us to follow. In accepting, we should follow blindfoldedly, like a kid follows his father in whom he has full trust. Jesus was sent to accomplish his mission, which was addressed to sinners, and anyone who does not recognize that Jesus was sent for him as a sinner would be denying the salvific mission Christ has accomplished in his favour.Homilies Index Page - Liturgy of the Hours - Home
