Isn't it cool to be the boss?
Welcome to the page where you can find out about how to become one of the members of the Board of Really Important People! Take a look, and if you think you have what it takes, send us an application, and prove it! Good luck! :)
Right now, HC4MBTS is SO new, that we don't even have a Board of Really Important People yet! So, of course, we need to choose all the wonderful people who will become our Board members! Now, the following requirements may seem harsh, but it's important that we only have the BEST people to not only represent HC4MBTS, but to judge every little piece of writing that falls into our hands! So please read the following requirements, and if you're interested, please apply. Thank you! :)
WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A BOARD MEMBER... Basically the Board of Really Important People is a board of editors for the site. To be considered for one of the positions, you MUST meet the following requirements: 1. You MUST be a member of the Matchbox Twenty General Discussion. 2. You MUST have one piece of writing published on the site. (You may submit this with your application, though if your material is rejected, your application automatically will be rejected.) It is strongly suggested that the member be willing to submit several pieces of material over the course of their term to set a good example, but it is not necessary. Your application will NOT be judged on the material you submit, nor on any published. 3. You MUST be willing to dedicate at least one night a week to read all material sent to you, and to attend the weekly meeting (Chat room) to vote on material. (More than one night a week is suggested, such as a night to read material, and another for the meeting, but it can be all done in one day, if necessary. That is up to the discretion of the member.) 4. You MUST be willing to fairly judge all material sent to you, and be willing to present any reasons why you suggest the material be/not be published. 5. You MUST be willing to fill out a writer profile, but the details may be as you choose, and you do not have to submit an acutal picture. For an example of a profile, please click here. 6. You MUST be willing to accept a varity of opinions. All material will be judged on by the Board, and meetings may, though not likely, become heated discussions. You must be willing to remain open minded during these times. 7. You MUST be willing to fullfill the duties of your position to the best of your ability. We will only accept 100%. We understand special circumstances will arise, and we will be willing to work with you around those, but only if you are willing to fully cooperate with us.
DUTIES OF A BOARD MEMBER... The following is a general list of the duties of a Board member. Failure to fullfill these to the best of your ability may result in a possible vote of dismissal. 1. Read all material sent to you for judging upon at weekly meetings. 2. Present reasons why you suggest the material be/not be published. You will be responsible for the material, including if the content is appropriate, if it is gramatically correct and spell checked. 3. Attend weekly meetings to vote on material. 4. Return the material to the writer, and suggest ways to improve it for publication. 4. Create ideas to promote your section of the site. (Yes, each member will be responsible for the writing on their part of the site, and it will be their duty to create ways of promoting traffic to go there.) 5. Help the writers featured in your part of the site with future material. 6. Possibly fill in for another member if necessary. 7. Further duties, or more category specific ones, may arise at any time. This is up to the member's discretion, based on previous duties.
