| How it happens, I may never understand. Simplicity of air molecules, Disrupted by wavelength of sound, and Imitated by your breath, your voice finding my ear. The mind, having learned how, can find the single silk Strand of your breath anywhere, cling to and recall on whim. How do words alone ease the strictures of the palms, Alter the tendency of the thighs, cause The pulse such distress, and the eyes grand visions? I can see clearly, the stark white silver of passion Running a mile deep in your whisper. Perhaps the texture, the ease Of your voice suggests The bliss of some previous state, and I listen, Like the shore caught beneath the steady surge of sea at tide, Deep in water turning violently, breaking From one existence to another. I want now To be covered by you. And when alone, on any night, Should the rolling of thunder from cloud to cloud Or the hush of rain on the earth Sound, by accident, like the timbre of your voice, I can be fooled by the moment, Feeling suddenly in the dark Estimable and saved. |
