Dr. Abo-Hashema is
an Associate Professor of Highway Engineering at Fayoum University (on-leave since Nov. 2003). He is working as Pavement
Expert, UAE; and Visiting Professor at United Arab Emirates University (Oct. 2008 to Date). He was working as Head of Study
& Design team/Senior Pavement Engineer through roads maintenance project in
Al Ain Region-UAE, Phase II & III (Nov. 2003-Oct.
2008). Dr. Abo-Hashema has more than 20 years of
experience in Pavement and Highway Engineering projects as a result of working
in many projects in Egypt, USA, and UAE, especially in Feasibility, Planning,
Design, Upgrading, and Maintenance studies. He obtained his PhD in Pavement
Management System and pursued two years Post-Doctoral studies at the Department
of Civil Engineering, University
of Idaho, USA, in the field of "Pavement Design". He has
cooperated to introduce new and innovative maintenance decision system for
flexible pavements. Furthermore, development a new maintenance decision model
for flexible pavements is one of his internationally achievements; IJPE. He has
also collaborated in designing a Mechanistic-Empirical design system for
flexible pavements in USA & Egypt. He has over thirty scientific publications in referred
technical International/Regional journals and professional International
conference proceedings. He jointed many universities as visiting/adjunct
professor in Egypt, USA, and UAE; as well as supervised many MSc theses. He is currently member of professional
organizations such as American Society of Civil Engineers-USA (ASCE), Egyptian
Syndicate of Engineers-Egypt, Arab Institute of Operation and Maintenance, and
Gulf Road Engineering Society. He is a registered consultant engineer in
Egyptian Syndicate of Engineers-Egypt. He has excellent experience in using the
computer application in teaching and research in Pavement Engineering.
