Me and Leadership

“The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things, but the one who gets the people to do the greatest things.” – Former US President Ronald Reagan

Studying Diplomacy, I have learned how important leadership is to our lives. This afternoon, a professor asked what a successful leader to me was. I defined a leader as an influential, aggressive, independent and goal-oriented person who recognizes the diversity of his followers and achieves the common values without destroying the uniqueness of the persons. In addition, he must be tough enough to face criticism, rejection, pressure, self-sacrifice, and loneliness.

I do not believe in any politicians. I think a leader of a nation (take note: a nation, not a state) is probably the most dangerous and cunning one. He is just a masked actor who pacifies his people with lies and falsities while making profits behind the curtain as much and as fast as he can. Hundreds of miles away from my country, there is a president brainwashing many of his people with a set of ridiculous bullshits, and telling them that War 2003 was legal and moral. He is a successful but stupid and evil leader. Many people died in that war just because of his interest in oil. A leader of a corporation is therefore much reliable. At least, unlike the politicians, without playing any dramas, you have already known that all he wants is money.

I know I will never become a leader, because I can not even control or take care of myself. Without hints and teachings from other seniors give me, I can not do things well. I am impulsive, immature, credulous, gullible, and unwise. My favorite line deep inside is “help me if you can”… -___-||| But I have promised myself that I would try my best to grow up and become completely independent as soon as possible in order to survive the life after I graduate.

To me, the greatest leader of all is Jesus Christ. He changes the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of his followers. He turns us into spiritually, emotionally and physically better people. He guides us along the way to success and leads us to the gate of happiness. I love you, Jesus!
