Galadriel was the daughter of Finarfin and Earwen. She lives in Lothlorien with her husband Lord Celeborn. She had one daughter, Celebrian, who married Elrond Halfelven and became the mother of Elrohir, Elladan and Arwen. When the Fellowshipcame to Lothlorien for refuge after losing Gandalf in Moria, Galadriel and Celeborn welcomed them. During their stay she gave Frodo and Sam the chance to look into her mirror. Frodo offers Galadriel the One Ring, but she resists it and and warns Frodo against the danger of the Ring.
When the Fellowship leave Lothlorien, Galadriel presents each of them with a gift. Aragorn recieves a scabbard for his sword Anduril, along with the Elfstone, a clear green stone set in a silver brooch. Boromir recieves a belt of gold, and Merry and Pippin get belts of silver. A Galadhrim bow, and a quiver of aroows, is given to Legolas, Sam recieves a simple box of earth from Galadriel's orchard, and Frodo recieves a small crystal vial, which has caught the light of Eärendil's star. She did not have a gift for Gimli, but at his request of of a strand of her hair, she cuts hims three golden hairs for him to treasure.
Galadriel passed over the sea after the War of the Ring, and it was then that it was revealed that she bore the elven ring Nenya, the Ring of Adamant. Celeborn lingered some time in Middle Earth, but he eventually followed his wife to Valinor.
