William Carey College
Founded in 1906 and operating for decades as Mississippi Woman's College,
William Carey College became co-educational in 1954 and was renamed in honor of
the eighteenth century English cobbler-linguist, William Carey, whose decades of missionary
activity in India earned him international recognition as the "Father of Modern
Missions." Today Carey operates under the governance of a 24-member board of
Trustees elected by the Mississippi Baptist Convention.
