There's
Gotta Be Something More…
It’s
late. I just finished watching another episode of “Most Haunted”.
Sufficed to say, though the historical content was interesting as always,
and their medium, Derek Acorah, again gave testimony that could neither
be proved or disproved, there was not so much as new content as there
was just another new location.
The Issue…
I sat there and began to wonder (as I often do); from all the shows on
the paranormal dating back to say, “Sightings” and the like,
forward, that have tried as they might to prove the tangible existence
of ghosts, are they A) just regurgitating the “tried and tested”
methods of ghost investigating with minimal results or are they B) actually
breaking new ground?
Unfortunately, my guess is A; it all seems to be the same stuff all the
time. Okay, here’s a hypothetical query. You have a house reputed
to be haunted. A “TV show” contacts the owner and asks if
they could feature it on an episode. Give that the “Ghost Hunters”
(I really don’t like that term, but…) have all the “necessary”
equipment to conduct an investigation, will the spirit perform for them
or will it become yet another hour of history? Granted, sometimes an anomalous
reading on an EMF detector is interesting or the medium gets some of the
historical personages correct; even an unexplained ball of light that
seems to be cognisant of its flight path doesn’t add up to much
in the way of fact.
The Proposition…
What I want to see is this; a group of seasoned investigators teamed up
with scientists from various fields of research like audio, video, physics,
whatever is deemed relevant, put in a “haunted” location for
a few months and expending every ounce of knowledge to see if they can
find something new. Given proper funding, they should be trying every
kind of electronic device, checking all spectrums of visible and invisible
light, sound, energy and not relying on an EMF detectors, a laser thermometers
and tape recorders, solely.
With technology at level it’s at in this day and age, there is no
reason for scientists or even TV shows not to invest a little more coin
and a little more concerted effort into trying something new to get more
tangible results other than a few floating dust particles. Until someone
comes out and states “let’s try all of these things and a
few things we haven’t thought of yet”, maybe, just maybe we
actually might see or experience something wholly original.
Now that would be worth tuning in.
