Technical Interests
- Platform - I have
worked on windows (98,NT,XP) and Linux (Fedora core1,3,4,
Mandrake 10.1,suse Linux) .Started off with windows. Recently
started working with linux. Linux with many different flavors is
really huge and fun. I have some experience of shell scripting
But the problem of finding dependencies and packages one by one
makes me thing of windows some times. I prefer windows for playing
games.
- Programming Languages
- I have learnt these languages { Pascal, C, C++,java, VB,tcl} . Its fun
learning these languages as and when required. I learnt Pascal, c as
part of my curriculum. I am NIIT certified C and Java programmer.
Did java during my 2004 vacations. Went through C++ for
my data structure labs. VB was needed for my DBMS mini project. TCL scripting was required for NS2 simulation.
- Database Projects
-I am interested in developing database applications. I have worked
with MS Access, Oracle, Ms SQL server, IBM DB2 database. Had
developed an hostel management web application - e Hostel using DB2
as back end. As a part of my course i along with my friend
abhinandan developed a recruitment software for a college
recruitment which include the entire process of recruitment - from
setting questions, examination, auto correction, display of results,
to customized interview and GD.
- Web Programming
- I have learnt JScript ,VBScript as client side scripting. Did ASP
and CGI Perl as server side scripting. I am IBM certified web
programmer. Have basic knowledge of PHP.
- Others - I do bit
of animations in Flash - know some fundamentals of action scripting.
I am also learning .Net technology with VB.net and c#.net . I think
c# is one language that may be considered powerful that java once
Microsoft releases the .net runtime for other platforms including
linux.
other interests and Hobbies
- l like volunteering and
have volunteered some cultural festivals back in home town. Its nice
to work with different people for some good cause.
- I am an executive member of
Indian Society for Technical Education
(ISTE) , Students chapter NITK Surathkal. As a member i have worked
for and organized many events including our club's annual fest nit
quest. I was also a member of Engineer 2005 ( NITK Surathkal
technical fest) committee.
- I love listening
music. I love
to hear Yanni when I am reading. Crazy about Linkin Park and
Rasmus. I enjoy Hindi songs - Bombay Vikings and Strings
being my favorite. I am found of tamil songs (even
though i don't understand it); they sound too good.I am a
bathroom singer -:)
- sports - I play
cricket, badminton , Table Tennis. I have represented my school at
regional level athletic meet in 1998. My main event was long jump
and relay race. Also played cricket for school and college. My
heroes are Adam Gilchrist (AUS) and Lance klusner (SA). I love
watching tennis and basket ball.
I had lot of
hobbies over the years - some funny some interesting. Some of them
are

- Coins and Currency - This craze was
induced on to me by some of my friends. Got a good start
when i happened to meet one of my dads friends who collected
coins for more that 25 years. I had coins of some 21
nations. Some of the best were the old vijaynagar humpi
coins, old Indian coins of British period anna,paise... and
a old 100 rs note
- Feather collection - This was one of
the funniest hobby i had - though a short lived one but had
lot of fun doing it. It all started when our biology teacher
gave an assignment during holidays - collect feathers of 20
birds and write about them. We went behind birds, climbed
lot of trees, went deep in forest..... After submissions we
continued it until parents raised objections
- I am found of cycling - one of the best
exercises. At home I prefer watching TV, playing computer
games. I like news channels a lot, also watch movies
(Hindi,English,Malayalam,Tamil). Also watch saas bahu
when there is no other option. I like racing games - nfs,
rally challenge, extreme 2000,f1 were the ones i liked the
most. Like playing unreal tournament, quake, rough sphere
but not the quickest. Brain Lara ,fifa and cricket 2000 were
good too.
