As far as I'm concerned, you're never too old for Winnie-The-Pooh.  The Hundred Acre Wood is all about innocence and it is a place where childhood is eternal.  What's not to love?

HARPER LEE

She may have only written one book, but one book is all she needed.  Someone once said that no writer is every satisfied with their work and as soon as they write something they feel is truly finished- there is nothing left to say and so they will stop writing.  I think maybe this is what happened to Harper Lee.  To Kill A Mockingbird is about as finished a book as was ever written.

I know most people think of Anne of Green Gables in the same category as chick flicks and My Little Ponies (heck I did until a couple years ago) but there really is something remarkable about that "Anne Girl".  I love to bury myself in Avonlea.  And just to help break the stereotype, the reason I even tried reading this series is because of a middle aged MALE writing professor I had my freshman year.  Anne was his favorite book and he'd even written a play based on it.

I have always loved Wonderland.  Who didn't?  Un-birthday parties, talking cards, and the inimitable White Rabbit.  Through the Looking Glass is incredible too.  Although I don't understand chess well enough to appreciate its full value.  As Alice says, "Curiouser and curiouser."
JAMES HERRIOT

Okay, not fiction.  But I don't have an autobiography section.  Better here than mysteries right?  Anyway, I started watching the show because Peter Davison played the fifth Doctor and I wanted to see his other stuff.  But I fell in love with the Yorkshire Dales (yeah England!) and especially with Darrowby.  I recorded as many episodes as I could and then went out and bought the books.  There is nothing better than to read yourself one of his dog stories just before you go to bed.
