The Victims of Auschwitz
Auschwitz is a town in southern Poland. Though it is quiet now, it remains an infamous place because if was home to a series of Nazi concentration camps during World War II. It is estimated that 1.5-3.5 million Jews were murdered in these camps during 1940-45.

The photo above shows the entry gate to Auschwitz II - also known as Birkenau. It was the site of much of this killing, with five gas chambers and four crematoria used for the attempted genocide.
