The Victims of Auschwitz

Auschwitz is a town in southern Poland. Though it is quiet now, it remains an infamous place because if was home to a series of Nazi concentration camps during World War II. It is estimated that 1.5-3.5 million Jews were murdered in these camps during 1940-45. The photo above shows the entry gate to Auschwitz II - also known as Birkenau. It was the site of much of this killing, with five gas chambers and four crematoria used for the attempted genocide. Please follow the links on the right-hand side to learn more.
