Has he done anything worthwhile for Texas? Not that I could find. Guess he must have, though, since he is in his second term. Either that, or the Bush's millions in Kuwaitian oil bought it for him.
Has he done anything meriting national recognition other than receiving the most money and support from major business interests? (Does this mean he is all ready bought by big business to serve their purpose while he is in office, God forbid?) Or, having used cocaine?
He served in the reserves during Viet Nam, in a position and station with little risk of going to Viet Nam. Plus, he got a position in the reserves the same day he applied and just before his exemption as a college student ran out.
And, some actually believe he wasn’t avoiding the draft. To that, I say, bull. His daddy got him safely into the reserves with ‘safe’ stationing guaranteed.
So, I wasted three hours this morning on the Internet trying to find out something about the guy that would qualify him to be President of the United States. Other than being older than
35 and a resident of one of the 50 states, I couldn’t find anything that would indicate in any way, shape or form he is presidential material, including being governor of Texas. And his daddy being president sure doesn’t qualify him.
Can he make a committment on anything? If so, I haven’t read or heard any, other than his ridiculous “compassionate conservative” junk.
I looked in online publications, newspapers, archives, and so on trying to find a case in which he madfe a stand on anything and fought tooth and nail for something he believed in.
But to no avail. I did find this quote: [he promised if he is elected president, he will uphold the laws of the country and ''the integrity and honor of the office, so help me God.''
(from USA Today, July 15, from Associated Press)]
Big deal. My gosh, every politician does that and then turns right around and breaks their oath of office. So, it isn’t noteworthy to say it - all that counts is whether or not it is done. And, to be quite frank, I can’t find he has done that. Besides, if he used cocaine, he has already violated the above promise whether he was in office at the time or not. And especially so if he did snort coke while governor of Texas.
I doubt very much Bush can relate to the poor, let alone be compassionate about their plight. Actually, I doubt very much that Bush can relate to any other than those who have bought him with campaign millions and other perks.
So, all I can say is this: If he is the best the Republican Party has to offer, then this country (and the Republican Party) is certainly in trouble, far deeper than I ever suspected. Surely, not even die-hard Republicans are fooled by this guy. At least, I pray they aren’t.
Or, is the party, along with their good buddies, the “let’s-buy-this-politician” major business interests, simply looking for a candidate that is easily manipulated, one who can
be molded to suit their purposes?
I wonder.
