Something that makes me go - "Hmmm."

Or,

Democratic Party Morality

I suspect that most people who read my commentary about politics believe me to be a staunch Democrat Party supporter. Well, I'm afraid that just ain't so. I am pretty much fed up with the whole lot of them.

Actually, the reason I have focused primarily on the Republican Party for three years is because of their often foolish, always illogical, reasoning coupled with actions which are quite questionable as to whether they serve the American public or not.

Generally, my conclusions have been the party’s interests, along with individual leading Republicans, lies in the self-serving role, not for the good of the country.

I contend now, and will for as long as I live, that the Republican Party is behind the efforts to discredit President Clinton including any activity, alledged or factual, that could be called immoral.

Could Lewinsky have been hired to induce Mr. Clinton into submitting to oral manipulations? Or, better put, would I put it past Washington politicians to hire a woman to do so with the intent of setting someone up? Not in a heartbeat.

I also contend immoral actions by leading Republicans in the past have been ignored or pooh-poohed away. What was not done was to make the transgressions public. In that, of course, the media helped by ignoring allegations that came to light in the very small circle of American citizens (well, at least citizens) that we call Congress.

The Republican Party forced the Lewinsky issue to dominate our lives indicating concern for the youth of this nation. Possibly, they have not talked to the youth of this nation who are bombarded daily with illicit sex of every form, the sources being television, including cartoons (check out some of the art work), sitcoms, newscasts, and drama shows.

Then, there are the immoral behaviors of parents and other significant people in their lives, including teachers and other people associated with their education.

Let’s not forget the ease of viewing smut on the Internet, a never ending source of porno (depends on your definition since it is such an ambiguous, nearly impossible, term to define), along with literature from romance novels to the Bible (if you consider prostitution immoral).

Even our nation’s history reveals many, many immoral, decadent famous people, as do role models of today, including sports figures, Hollywood icons, and, of course, politicians.

I often wondered about the Democratic Party keeping its mouth essentially closed during the past three to five years. Why weren’t the transgressions of leading Republicans brought up?

Not that this defends President Clinton in any way but just as a point of political behaviors that I find objectionable. Consider this. Prior to the last election, Democrats were fairly certain that Mr. Clinton would be re-elected. He was extremely popular regardless of the attempts of the Republican Party to discredit him.

The republican candidate, Bob Dole, certainly had his own morality and questionable ethics, in conjunction with being "Tax Hike Bob" to deal with. Therefore, it was easy for Democratic leaders to sit back and ride the wave to another Bill Clinton Democratic presidency.

Now, however, elections are coming up and Mr. Clinton has admitted to his receiving oral sex from Lewinsky. Suddenly, Democratic leaders are beginning to speak out and act as if worried about the youth of this nation.

So what makes me go "Hmmm"? Just where the heck were they before they began worrying about their own re-elections?

Is the intent now to give the impression that they have not had any type transgression themselves?

Are they as moral as their statements are supposed to cause us to believe?

So, where are the bills forcing family value type content on the many sources of material that lead youth away from the afore mentioned family values?

Because of the lack of activity against all the sources of anti-family value material and their failure to speak out before election time came up, I am forced to conclude that their statements currently being made are intended to mislead voters into believing they are morally and legally pure with great concerns for the youth of this nation.

Also, witness the absence of bills forcing morality on the many sources of immorality (Yes, immoral, objectionable material could be controlled on TV and movies IF that were the wishes of the majority).

If you believe Democrats who are now speaking out about family values and the like(and Rep. politicians), I have some great property in Florida to talk to you about. You see, just as with Republican members of Congress, their primary concern is their congressional seats, not morality; not integrity; not the youth of this nation.

Politicians, especially Washington politicians, are there for what it will do for them with little regard to the ethics, morals, mores, and civil laws of this nation. Nor do they really care about the effects their actions have on our young people.

Otherwise, their integrity and morality would never be in question, nor would they ever lie about their opponents, themselves, or their motives.

No, what they all want, Ladies and Gentlemen, is power, money, the feeling of superiority over the rest of us; and then - more of the same.
