ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

This writer often wonders just where most politicians keep their heads. For certain it isn't always squarely on their heads. Too often their brains seem to be misplaced or no larger than a pea. Guess that would make them peabrained so why are they where they are? Maybe that is a reflection on the rest of us.

Nearly every platform of every politician includes a plank concerning law enforcement and reduction in crime. Nearly every platform includes morality, family values, ethics, and the like. Integrity is always a focal point.

So, why did the House put Gingrich back as their leader?

If a criminal investigation of Gingrich and his friends had been conducted as it should have been, the most probable conclusion would have been he is a provable felon. It is pretty much a certainty he has committed crimes far worse than many persons who have been convicted and are now serving out their sentences in the regular prison system.

If you had committed the same acts, including misuse of funds (stealing) against the place of your employ, not only would you have been prosecuted, you would have lost your job. And, whether convicted or not, you would find it rather difficult to obtain a like-position. This would especially be true if you had to look for it after you were released from prison.

Most employers have great disregard for any employee who lies, let alone one that lies about company money being spent for their own gain. Plus, most of us consider lying a no-no and an unacceptable behavior.

Gingrich's lying for over two years certainly indicates the man does not have any integrity, that he knew exactly what he was doing the entire time he was doing it. And, for all we know without a complete investigation of his past political career, his most recent transgressions may have been the norm for him during his entire political life.

But, this isn't the worst part of the situation which the writer sincerely wishes the final chapter has yet to be written. Just what have our leaders in Washington told us and the rest of the world?

What is clear is the House, and most likely the Senate since demands for a complete investigation of Gingrich did not take place, does not find it wrong to have an admitted liar, if not a felon, in their mist, let alone as head of the organization.

Republicans, primarily for their own personal and political reasons, felt keeping Gingrich in his position of power was the right thing to do. How in the world do they figure this is equality in the eyes of the law??

We can't ignore the Democrats in this matter even though they are not the majority in either the House or the Senate. Thy had it within their power to demand a complete investigation be conducted. Instead, the uproar which could have resulted in a criminal investigation didn't amount to little more than a squeak. Thus, the vote went on.

The lack of action against Gingrich tells the world, does it not, it is acceptable for us to have probable felons in charge, that it is okay to have unscrupulous people representing us in our nation's capitol, to have people in Congress who cannot be trusted to tell the truth, and people who abuse or violate laws as leaders of the nation.

So, let's see. If it's acceptable to have a liar, cheat, and a probable felon representing us and our nation's value system, does it not follow the acceptability of such a man might lead others to believing we all lie, cheat, and commit felonies?

Otherwise, would we not have forced a criminal investigation of Gingrich and his obviously shady dealings? Would we not be writing to Washington demanding a more appropriate action be taken against the man?

It sickens and saddens this person that a man such as Gingrich gets by with major crimes against society but not nearly to the degree that it sickens and saddens him that WE, the American people, allow our representatives in government to continue unchecked doing as they will regardless of the wrong-doings they commit.

This writer is writing a letter which will strongly state his views directly to the House of Representatives with a copy going to the Senate and to the White House. (See "Next" below). If you consider yourself an American who believes in the American value system rather than political party B.S. and politics as usual, you will do likewise.

And to answer the question of why Gingrich is once again House Leader although integrity and socialization to the laws of the land seem to be absent from his character. And, by his own admission, I might add.

That's a simple one, Ladies and Gentlemen.

It's because we have allowed it. And, by allowing it, we may also have our own heads where the sun doesn't shine.

This, sadly, is also the answer to the second question as to why unscrupulous politicians are where they are.
