Out of Sight, Out of Mind

How quickly time can obscure the truth. Once again, this has been proven to be the case in what one might call the closing days of the Gingrich situation.

In this case, it is the truth that has been pushed out of sight. This, as it is so prone the do, has resulted in politicians and, presumedly, the public forgetting the facts concerning Newt Gingrich and his financial transgressions that led to his fine by the Ethics Committee.

The truth has been buried, in part, by Dole lending Gingrich $300,000 since Gingrich is such a 'good republican', a good friend, and since Dole just wants his party to get back to normal (and just what is normal for it?).

Gingrich must have forgotten what led to the fine, also. In his announcement speech, he stated only one charge out of 81 stuck. He further stated it was based on letters by his attorneys in which misinformation was given.

Has he already forgotten that he took donated funds and used them for political purposes, three poltical television shows, and to finance college courses taught by himself?

Has he already forgotten that the funds were ear-marked for educational purposes, that that was the basis for contributors being able to deduct the contributions?

Has he already forgotten that his use of the funds was illegal, that it is not different than stealing? Actually, by definition, it is stealing but this fact seems to have now been lost to the media, the Congress, and the American people.

Has he already forgotten that instead of a censor or impeachment by Congress, it took a lot of dealing to rid himself of the charges and to end the investigation into his financial manipulations?

Has he already forgotten the reasons for his fine must have purely political for the Republican Party, that perhaps the American public was not ready for another member of Congress being criminally investigated. So, instead a 'deal' was made?

Or, was Gingrich innocent of committing felonies and this writer's intepretation of reported facts wrong?

There is only one way to find out but the means of doing so has apparently been forgotten by everyone. The way to the complete truth is to conduct a criminal investigation of Gingrich.

Forget the Ethics Committee as they are nothing but politicians doing a political job with committee members having political ambitions or purposes in mind. Thus, the dealing that was done.

At any rate, what should have been a criminal investigation, and would have been had it been a person in the private sector doing the same, has instead been boiled down to "misinformation" in letters.

The truth has been pushed into the back-ground by political techniques, primarily that of obscuring the truth by directing the public's thoughts away from the truth. Thus, politicians retain their status quo of manipulating laws and the public's opinion to their advantage.

Sadly, Ladies and Gentlemen, this isn't by any means the first time the truth has been obliterated by political manipulations nor will it be the last. That is our fault and it could be changed, but not by a society that makes the individual choice of not getting involved in the political and legal arena.
