Putting it into perspective

As the saga of Starr (the Republican Party) continues, it is quite easy to become somewhat confused by the apparent apathy of the public, a public which could easily begin stepping in and stopping the waste.

First of all, I must question whether or not President Clinton did violate a law if, and this is a big ‘if’ he did obtain oral sex from Lewinski? Is this the same as Nixon and the Republican Party using government funds and manpower to eavesdrop on their opponents? I think not.

If he did ask Lewinski to lie, is this a crime deserving of a million dollars a month to prove he did so? Is it worth a staff of 27 attorneys and their support to carry on an investigation?

All that has been accomplished in the last month is Lewinski was forced to give her fingerprints and a sample of her handwriting to Starr. Guess that would really prove Mr. Clinton had had oral sex from Lewinski but only if they lifted fingerprints from, well, you know where.

Notes written mean very little since many people fabricate stories. They are called writers of fiction. But, if letters or notes written by Lewinski contained factual information, is the public’s good being served by an investigation with one intent, that of bringing down a president? Are the alleged transgressions by President Clinton actually that important?

I read commentary by some person that actually justified Starr’s spending of over 40 million to the President flying in Air Force One. Are political partisans actually that deep in the rut of illogic?

I thought it just applied to members of Congress voting for their party’s good rather than for the good of the American people or when, for example, comparing the Clinton saga to Nixon’s case which produced facts of illegal activities within weeks.

This is already too long so to wrap it up - 66 percent of the American population say that it is not that important so drop it and let’s move on to societal problems which are important, decreasing crime, teen prenancies, drug usage, the homeless, political corruption .......

And, for God's sake and the peace of mind of this nation, get rid of Starr and all like him.
