I personally would like to move on to hearing, reading, and writing about something other than the Clinton-Lewinsky saga. It is really getting tiresome, especially when it is clear that close to two-thirds of the public doesn’t care about whether or not Mr. Clinton received oral sex from Lewinsky.
Even deeper than this is the fact that the same number apparently doesn’t care that he lied about it whether under oath or not. In my way of thinking, his lying about his sexual encounters with other than Hillary isn’t any different than any other American lying about theirs.
The norm, not the exception, is for people, whether man or woman, to lie about extra-marital affairs. That is the fact. And it is one the most accurate reflection on our characters and one of our sexual norms.
I ask you - if it had not been for the vindictive surge by the Republican Party to undermine Clinton, would the affair have ever come to light? The party, with its Special Counsel, Starr, had to find something that would present a negative image of Mr. Clinton and, hence, the Democratic Party.
Whitewater didn’t work as there wasn’t any evidence whatsoever of any wrong-doing by the Clintons. Flowers didn’t work. Jones didn’t work. And, certainly, Willey didn’t work.
Regardless of the job the public perceived President Clinton as doing (one of the highest approval rates in history, a rating that has diminished little), the party and its lackey kept hammering away at the American public and Lewinsky. And, with what result?
Is their any evidence that Mr. Clinton interfered with justice in anyway? Is their any
evidence that he coerced Lewisky into lying for him (again, I ask, would not any person
have
have told an illicite sexual partner to lie about the dalliance?), that she was rewarded for
doing so? NO!
If it had not been for the determined efforts of the Republican Party and Starr’s search for
anything that could be used against President Clinton, would the situation have even been
made public? No, no more than it was with the Reagans, Lincolns, Coolidges, Kennedys,
and all other presidents and leading officials that have had long-term and multiple sexual
partners outside their marriages.
Even Gingrich is somewhat supporting Clinton in that he doesn’t want Clinton out of office.
Of course, this is most probably self-serving since he has presidential aspirations and has
had many extra-marital affairs himself.
So, let’s let this die - it is serving no useful purpose for the advancement of this country.
And it is providing the only negative impact on national business, not Mr. Clinton's
knowledge of his own behaviors.
So who is to be blamed for any interence in the conducting of national business, for any
impact felt on Mr. Clinton's effectiveness? Why, the people who caused the situation to be
made public in the first place and those who subsequently not let it die.
