"Tweeks"

307 CUI
4 door sedan
Automatic Transmission

These pictures were taken before the accident. I don't currently have any pictures of the damage online. Memories from the good times.

Tweeks died on the highway. I was told that it is most likely a timing chain, and that this is a common problem with this vintage of engine. The OEM timing chain set is an aluminum gear with an almost fiber-glass covering on the teeth. Made for a very quiet quick-wearing set up. I was told that it should be okay, and to throw a new chain set in there. I gave my mechanic the OK to do so, and tried to think of the benefits of the work. More power, better gas milage...
Well guess what, my mechanic never thought to check the valves. It tapped the valves, 4 bent rods, 1 shattered rod. After he installed the chain he found this out, and it was going to cost more if I wanted my car back. The bastard even took the time to pick up the engine and clean out the oil pan!!! Never going back there again. I have a 1983 305CUI that I am going to put in at some point and get my baby back.
